Shepard had the highest yards per carry his true freshman year. He wasn't used enough his Freshman year and when he was in everyone knew where the ball was going and he still was dynamic. Now last year he was used more as a decoy in the backfield even though if Jefferson would of read the defense and handed the ball off instead of keeping it; Shepard would have been more impactful! While at receiver he hasn't set the world on fire as a five star reciever would be expected to do, but he wasn't recruited as a five star receiver. Besides what receivers in the last 3 years "due to QB's" have been? I would like to see the stat of how many he has dropped compared to the other receivers. I remember in the Cotton Bowl a throw across the middle that the ball was thrown at his cleats. Yes Shepard is an collegiate athelete and should catch anything that hits his hands, but who has under Jefferson?? Again show me the stat of Shepard's drops compared to the other recievers. I can't stand when people say he hasn't lived up to the hype like it's his fault. He hasn't been used properly and enough times. Freshman year 45 carries 277 yds 6.2 yards per carry 69 yd long and 2 touchdowns. 2010 "he had the second highest YPC not counting Josh Jasper and Deangelo Peterson" 32 carries 226 yds 7.1 yards per carry 50 yd long and 2 TD's SEE video LINK

I would like to see Shep or Gore returning punts/kickoffs.

I would love to see Shep get a chance at returns, but I thought I saw some other names getting reps. We have some really quick receivers..

Shep can do whatever he wants to do. The boy has the tools.

Well, if he catches everything, and doesn't short-arm everything, he has a chance to be great. Just don't know if he has the hands/concentration to be a good reciever.

Ninja pleeeeeezzzzz......Just get him the ball and he has more talent than all of those boys. Forget about anything else if your a coach, and just figure a damn way to get it in his hands!

I think Shep was a little hesitant at receiver last year. I think he'll be better this year well hopefully. As far as the return game, I think he would be better suited as a PR than a KR...just me though

I'd be hesitant as well if the QB almost got me killed several times.

here's hoping coach krags gets him the ball in creative ways and often.

Honestly, IMHO, T-Rex has better hands than RS.

Remembered the last interception by him in the Cotton Bowl game??? (where he stretched out and caught the ball with his fingertips-that was impressive)

i don't see your point. he is definitely not one of the top runningbacks on the team and he is definitely not one of the top receivers on the team. and, if you've ever seen him throw, you would know that he is definitely not a college calliber q.b.

so, what is it?

shep will be fine. the offense is simplier with krags. more plays will be designed to go to him instead of him being the 3rd read. which jj couldnt do.

Shep dropped more passes than any other receiver. He was good for at least two drops per game. You can't blame that all on the quaterback. He may be good if he dedicates himself to the game and eliminates mistakes. If not he will be passed up by receivers who do what receivers should do. CATCH THE BALL.
