re: rare footage from 1970 LSU vs Ole Miss

Seriously, did Ole Miss forget you are allowed 11 players to cover punts? That was ridiculous. Was it the first fake reverse on a punt in the history of College Football?

was that our buddy vern on the play by play???

thanks for that great video .one of the most exciting games in tiger stadium.

i was a sophmore attending the game. huge buildup
to game. we had panty raids and food fights all week...no one on campus slept for several days before game....i remember a parade through campus
to parker coliseum

students stormed field in last minute of game.

i believe after this game a fence was built
around field and the hedges were pulled up
in north end zone. before fence rotc cadets
would form a line surrounding the football field.

hearing lsu band play complete tiger rag and ole
miss band play dixie that was great!

i noticed rebel fans wre shown in the box seats
at field level. that may have been last year for those seats.

Archie looks pissed in the player introductions.

I still remember my parents going crazy watching that game.
Notice a couple of things from the video -
1. the hedges around the field
2. UM painted in one endzone
3. Ole Miss band playing Dixie as well as all those flags.
4. All the poms poms in the stands.

Austin - do you really have that entire game? I would love to get a copy of it. I have the 1970 LSU Notre Dame game and the 1971 Orange Bowl vs Nebraska.

My dad played DE on that team and I have been searching for more games to have as a memory.

I would love to get a copy if possible.

They weren't those little whimpy plastic pom poms. They were those big, paper pom poms on wooden sticks.

another thing about ABC games back then is the announcers calling the game actually called the halftime show too - both bands with analysis and no commercials or scores of other games

Also i think visitors had 10,000 tickets back then and of course they were all together in the lower section. The Ole Miss cheerleaders would haul out cases of rebel flags in tubes and throw them into the stands right before the game

Yes that is game that I have. Notre Dame won 3-0. I got the game from ND. It is the coach's film with no commericals just one play after another.
