How do you cook turnip root?

I have been doing a turnip puree w/ garlic, butter, milk, a little thyme. It is damn good... think mash potato replacement.

Any other ideas?

Boil it down a little softer in some crab boil. Stuff it with Garlic chunks. Roast it in oven like an onion.

My dad makes a beef and turnip strew that is pretty good

Not sure what all goes into it
