I look at talent, depth chart, school and coaching and make my decision from there. Most guys won't be four year starters, but I look for two or three year starters at major BCS schools because they have more chances for awards and to become major draft picks, and just be better players. I also look at where they are playing. LB from Penn State and tOSU, DB's from bama, QB's from SMU, Houston, WR from Mizzou, etc get a bump. Offensive lineman from UGA get a downgrade. That's pretty much my strategy. The first few rounds are pretty much best player available and it's hard to mess up unless you just pick a total bust player.

I never even think about the depth chart because the creme always rises. There are too many variables such as injuries, declaring for the draft and so on. So I do my best to pick purely on talent and then in the later rounds I look for diamonds in the rough at my position of needs.

So I'm trying to figure out my strategy for drafting. What would be theoretically better here... a guy ranked #20 overall but may have to sit a year or two or a guy ranked #40 overall but will be a 4 year starter?

Since there's no really official scoring method.. I'd just say pick the guys who you think will end up the best (of course you get into how do you define best, but whatever you think).

For me, best are the guys that will be studs in college and NFL stars.

I know Dan's secret for picking OLine but I won't divulge that one.

Pasty has made a motion for the "Noon Rule."

The idea of the rule is that if you are within 3 people of your pick the night before, if you have not either submitted your pick via email or on the board, you are subject to be bumped along.

Thoughts? Any detractors? I think it will help propel this along a little faster.

If you can't have access to the board or the tracking sheet, you should have a weighted list into myself or OBUDan when your pick is up so that we can keep it moving. Otherwise, pick when you show up. Only fair IMO.

Dan, do you still have my phone number from last year?

I would prefer to text than email, as I might be the only person in the world that does not have the internet on my phone.

I probably do, but I'd have to dig.

Could you email it to me now to make my life easier?

My God, some of these fools are taking forever. They are not deciding who to take, they simply aren't checking the board. We'll be doing this for over two months at this rate.

OBUDan and I agreed to bump TSB4L. Go ahead and pick ItsThatDude12. TSB4L can pick when he shows. Let's get this thing going! Bring it.

Yeah TSB4L hasn't been on in over a week, I doubt he even knows we started.
