I "heard" the Zwolle girls are still hitting the stick and tube baits... Good Luck!

I do not, but I can tell you what works for me every year there in early spring.
Slow spinner bait by base of trees in ski area.
Weightless trick worm in areas with few trees and camps. Especially if a camp has a yard with grass all the way down to water's edge.

i have a camp on black lake and hung Yo-Yo's this weekend. we boated right at 70 in 2 nights. mainly crappie. really nice size. 2 bass over 5lbs one being close to 7lbs. and 3 really large blue cats. its a great lake to fish but if your in a bass boat take this advice from me. dont leave the boating lane with you big motor cranked. the water level is low about 3-4 ft from what i call a good level. that lake has more wide open spaces with stumps just under the water than you can imagine.

I'm already scared the entire time I'm there. I simply would not go.

i have been fishing black lake for 5 years now. i only hang Yo-Yo's. my buddy who got me hooked on Yo-Yo's has been fishing the lake his entire life. i would'nt put my fancy bass boat in this lake. my 14ft metal boat is another story. i cant tell you how many boats i have seen in the morning pop a stump or just flat out stuck on one because they leave the poorly marked boating lanes running the big motor. we just put around and pick up our yo-yo's and out fish the hell out of them

bg22: you sound like you have been fishing with me and my buddys. and remember the golden rule to Yo-Yo's you never hang as many as you think. my buddy swore friday night that his boat hung 180 . we picked them up sunday and it was more like 108! oh yea and the duck hunters need to move their decoys before i decide to set them free to float all over the damn lake.

We have at least 30 dozen and are bringing more. Last year we started with 10# of shunted and ran out. Every yo-yo is either tripped, has a white perch, or a mudcat on it I'll update the thread with pics and a final tally

Me and my buddy are making a triP therethis weekend also it will be both our first time to fish it... Is it really that bad of a minefield? Will we not be able to get up and go out there? Or should we just stay by te bridge tressels?

It ain't that bad. It's just poorly marked. If you arent familiar with the channel boat rows etc don't get in a hurry. The red river is much worse about always being on a stump or stob, if you've ever fished there

bg22 hit it on the head pay attention to boat lanes and dont assume open area are stump free and you will be alright. we had really good success this weekend with the old creeks and other 10-15ft deep sections of the lake for Yo-Yo's . hang them in to shallow of water and its catfish and shoepick city.

Can you run the ski area? I've always been iffy on the channel down there.
