On SB Nation msg board, they are talking about the best team that Kirk Frentz at IOWA has beat. I don't know if we were the best, but surely had lots of talent. This was Coach Nick Saban coached talent. In this particular game, we LOST, and by a DB being out of position no less. Some of the guys on roster during '04 Cap 1 Bowl:

Joseph Addai (1st Round 2006)
Dwayne Bowe (1st Round 2007)
Glenn Dorsey (1st Round, 5th Overall 2008)
Buster Davis (1st Round 2007)
Early Doucet (3rd Round 2008)
Skyler Green (4th Round 2006)
Jacob Hester (3rd Round 2008)
Ali Highsmith (Undrafted Free Agent 2008)
Chevis Jackson (3rd Round 2008)
LaRon Landry (1st Round, 6th Overall 2007)
Rudy Niswanger (Undrafted Free Agent, still active on Chiefs roster)
Jamarcus Russell (1st Round, 1st Overall 2007)
Marcus Spears (1st Round 2005)
Craig Steltz (4th Round 2008)
Claude Wroten (3rd Round 2006)

Pretty strong list, makes the cap one loss even more inexcusable.

Your list of players misses the DB who was out of position to begin with...Ronnie Prude who went on to play for the Baltimore Ravens (don't know if he was drafted or not). Prude inexplicably thought he was playing an underneath zone when he was supposed to be in man. Let his receiver run right past him.

So with this list of players, it was the coaches fault LSU lost. I agree.
