Depending on what type of Highlander fan you might be - either foolishly optimistic about new material or numb to the pain, that title should either make you want to hang yourself with an extension cord or just continue sinking slowly into your icy bath.

Surely this can't be a worse atrocity than Endgame or The Source? If it stays true to the original movie at all, there's no way it could even be as bad as even The Quickening, right? Melissa has the advantage here in that Highlander fans expect NOTHING at this point. Will this remake be refreshing even if it is just mediocre or will it somehow manage to piss us off even more than we already are?

Summit’s film will expand on the original HIGHLANDER’s core mythology of immortals battling amongst us, hunting each other through the ages by tapping its newly minted creative team to take its re-imagination to new heights. Plans call for the re-imagination to spur a new franchise for the studio.

Forget what I said about staying true to the original. Re-imagining... Twilight writer.... New franchise... This is too much to take.

She's not the Twilight writer, she was the screenwriter, there's a difference. She was also the head writer and executive producer for the first 3 seasons of Dexter.

Yes, I know. Is that better or worse? The dialog in the movies is atrocious but surely the source material can't be much better.

I haven't watched this show, but I'll take it as a vote of confidence. Really, I want to believe that there is hope for Highlander.

I wouldn't know. They were written and produced for tweens and undersexed housewives, I'm neither so I haven't read or watched any of them.

The first two movies are good for comedic value. Eclipse is just bad in a boring way.

ETA: Oh, and thanks for making me categorize my mom as an undersexed housewife.

You more of an Adrian Paul or Christopher Lambert type-o-guy?

I'm partial to Duncan, m'self, seeing as I first started watching the show on USA before I got to the movies.

one of my favorite magical-romantic montages w/ Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever"
also this one with Loreena McKinnet

The source material is bad. Did she write all the movies? Because I actually have different opinons on all of them.

Twilight looks like an arthouse film now compared to the latest two.

I've actually thought Highlander could use a new beginning, but I was thinking anyone from JJ Abrams to Michael Bay. I don't care for an emo-immortal.

After having just read the thread title I was gonna come in here and say sounds like it will be worse than Highlander 2. But it looks like you already had that covered with the first post.

Sword fights are cool. The premise is cool. The TV show was pretty good and the original film was great for the time. I'm not overly ticked that they've decided to reboot after the series of abortions that tried to expand the movie franchise. I haven't had the displeasure to read or see any of the Twilight stuff so I don't really know if I should be scared.

I'd count on a lot of chiseled chin and statuesque physic references.

If they emasculate Duncan McLeod, I will go Edward Norton on myself.

Christopher Lambert... despite how Endgame stripped him of his dignity. I never actually liked the television show. I was always just a fan of the original movie. Besides, I instantly despise any character who was involved with The Source. I think that's the only time the ending of a movie actually pissed me off.
