DALLAS -- So we've found one man who's willing to battle the elements in our region and make Westlake, Texas, his permanent home. Oh, and Sean Payton's not being hired as the Dallas Cowboys' general manager, although that rumor sure had a ring to it.

The intrepid Ed Werder of ESPN fame, a frequent contributor to this blog, has been focused on the Green Bay Packers the past couple weeks but he found himself breaking some real estate news Monday. The New Orleans Saints put out a press release Sunday night that Payton will remain their head coach, but Werder discovered that he will now commute to New Orleans via private plane.

Rumors began to swirl Sunday evening that Payton might be accepting a front-office position with the Cowboys. And while I'm sure Jerry Jones would've welcomed Payton back into the fold, it's not like he's going to give up his GM title. The Saints head coach will now realize his dream of living in the same neighborhood as the Jonas Brothers.

A lot of us have tried to figure out how to commute to New Orleans from Dallas, but it's a tricky proposition for non-millionaires who are paid by the blog entry.

Let me be the first person to welcome the Paytons back to their heavily guarded home.

I've put in some of the other threads that all should be aware that a coaches family living in a different city than that team is nothing unusual whatsoever.

No matter how you look at it, this isn't good. A huge part of what made the Saints so special in 2009 was how much they represented the city and the bond between the city/region and the coaches/team. I get that its a business and his family wants the best life possible for them, but this move definitely frays the bond between the region and Payton.

I just couldn't see him saying all that he said last year while his family was living in Dallas and he commuted via private plane. Not liking this at all.

Yeah, a city they were already rooted in, with kids who didn't want to leave their schools etc. The didn't move to the coach's new city, only to decide to move out 5 years after being there.

This sucks! I just lost a little respect for Sean Payton. These things never work out. The strain of commuting starts to wear you down. This is a bad sign.

Or his wife and kids already had roots in Dallas and want to go back there, especially for his daughters' high school years.

BTW, this is all that I said on the whacked thread, but someone got upset that his "Payton to the Cowboys" rumor was debunked.

I agree. Really don't understand this move. I mean I understand they have had problems with their drywall and all but damn. Definitely lost a little respect here too.

Then they never should have left Dallas for a Katrina ravaged New Orleans

I don't really care either way. New Orleans is now in the upper tier jobs of the NFL. If for some reason Payton wanted out, so be it.

It is the wife's call, plain and simple. Sean is doing what is best for his family.

Remember all that stuff he said in his book? About how they were all getting used to the food and how his daughter had made the cheerleading squad and on and on. What crap!

did you want him to write in his book how much his wife hates the northshore?

His family should've tried getting away from the fricking Northshore and move into the actual city in a neighborhood like the Brees' moved in to. Where they were living is in no way, shape or form New Orleans living.

That was part of Loomis having leverage with a never having been a HC before guy. He demanded him be "all in" and live here. Go to a NFCCG & win the first Lombardi in team history and the leverage reverses. He has the stroke now.

I don't care much as long as he's HC and continues in success. The Steelers and Colts fans prolly had no grumble when the Cowher and Dungy families lived in completely different parts of the country.

Mixed feelings on this; hope he can make it work.

One question: why move in February?! Can't she wait till June and the end of the school year???
