METTENBERGER

Ok overlooked is the wrong word...soon forgotten is better. To me if this guy would have waited until NSD to choose people would have been saying this is one of the biggest gets in years , but becuase he locked it up early I think people forgot how HUGE he is to this class.

A quarterback that can start from day 1 is exactly what we need, and we got the best one out there.

He might be a 4 star prospect to the recruiting services, but he is more than a 5 star to us.

He' got to beat out two experienced QB's before he starts, just saying.

And even if he doesn't, atleast we have a quality backup that we know can start.

I feel more comfortable with Mettenberger than some 5 star recruit coming out of highschool because we can't afford to go through the growing pains of a young quarterback. Mettenberger fills the gap at quarterback perfectly.

so, he's only got to throw more than 4 TDs in an entire season?

i dont think thats too hard.

I just can't see him starting over JJ, at least at the start of the season.

Miles will give JJ the benefit of the doubt for a few games. Mett will see snaps though, probably in the Oregon game, but not starting though.

How are so many tiger fans this delusional?? His highlights look great and he redshirted at UGA then played for a JUCO. The fact that everyone is so sure he can START at LSU in the SEC is mind boggling to me. He looks talented to me and is somewhat seasoned but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Getting your hopes up too high leads to unrealistic expectations and then irrational anger when you realize that the player "let you down". Stop the madness, please...for your own good.

Except Miles kept talking about Rivers and Rivers being 6'7" and will play at 210-215 and I think Miles is locked in on Rivers already!!!

So you don't think he is more mature? more seasoned (having been through the JUCO playoffs)? more knowledgeable?

Than a player coming right out of highschool?

...that was my point, that he sould be further along in the maturation process than a highschool player, which is exactly what we need. Not that he had a better skill set.

Rivers needs a few cheeseburgers before he even sniffs the field
