Headed to the match between the Aussies and Japan tonight! Anyone jealous? Ha, never knew an Asian Cup existed until last week actually. This will be my first live soccer match actually. Will let you know how I like it after we get back!

The way attendance for the tournament has been, you may be one of the only ones there.
I hope it's a good match.

But Qatar definitely deserves a World Cup...

Well, they were able to grease the wheel better than the other bidders.

Awesome save by the Japanese GK in the 72nd minute to keep it 0-0.

You guys will love this story. I now know why attendance has been so low! The match started at 6 pm, we were at the gate to get in the stadium at 5:45 pm and hundreds of people were still in line to get in when they closed the gates down. Stopped letting valid ticket holders in. We walked around for about an hour to the different gates trying each one only to be told to go to the next gate at each one. There were thousands of people outside of the stadium with tickets that couldn't get in.
We asked several of the "authorities" why they weren't letting anyone in and they said the stadium was full. We could see from the outside that a large amount of the stadium was still empty. Fans were getting pretty crazy and were yelling at them and waving their tickets in the air outside of the gates to no avail. Eventually, as we were leaving they had called riot police to the area, had batons and everything.
I have never in my life seen an event organized so poorly. How in the world do you turn thousands of valid ticket holders away? Have no idea if any of us will get our money back. If this is a preview of 2022, look out, I wouldn't recommend anyone paying the ridiculous airfare and hotel expenses to make the trip out here. Not that much to see anyway downtown. You could spend a day and a half here and see all that you need, if that long!

Wow, that's pretty pathetic coordination on their part. Seemed like there were a lot of people there but I never saw a full crowd shot.
