This.

The real question I'd have, though, would be how injured he's really been over the last few months.

If it's just been Peja and the Raptors playing a waiting game for a buyout since November, then it's not a bad thing.

If he really has been so hurt he couldn't play for 2 months, then why bring him back?

I don't know how hurt he's been but I read somewhere recently he's been rehabbing in NO. Although it could just be he wasn't going to play and he figured why stay in Toronto during the winter.

The other thing this suggests is that there isn't much of a market for Peja's contract for those of you who said it was a bad deal.

I can see that as a distinct possibility. The Raptors wanted Bayless and the Hornets wanted Jarrett Jack. Everyone else was generally moved for salary purposes.

ESPN Story

Dallas is apparently his #1 choice at the moment for two reasons - they have minutes to offer at SF thanks to Caron Butler's season ending injury, and the close proximity to New Orleans (where Peja's family still lives). I'd imagine he's still considering the Hornets though, assuming we're considering him as well.

Just read the article

And joining the Mavericks would enable Stojakovic to live within short flying distance of his wife and children, who remained in New Orleans after he was dealt to the Raptors.

New Orleans is even closer to his wife and kids. The question is would Monty play him? I'm sure he wants to play meaningful minutes and I don't think Monty's early experiments with Peja at the 4 worked out too well IIRC.

I think any minutes Peja got would be at the expense QPon, provided we don't trade anyone from the current rotation soon.

It depends what Dallas is able to offer him.

They've got the most available minutes for him thanks to Butler's injury but are strapped for cash because they're pretty far into the luxury tax range at $88.5 million in payroll this year.

Even Mark Cuban has to think about the bottom line once in a while.

With a net worth of $2.3B, I can promise you he doesn't care if he loses $30M in a year.

I would rather see a Tyson Chandler reunion.

It's a good thing you added the "s" at the end of head.
