who will jump ship as soon as a mid-major or better HC job comes along?

Maybe a 1 1/2 or 2 years time?

To win a National Championship before he leaves.

I'll take Chryst for 2 years while BG gets more experience in the pro style offense and then let BG take over when Chryst leaves.

The point would be that you are hiring the best available candidate.

Or you could take the old Tulane approach similar to when Bowden left. They were afraid Rich Rod would only be there a few years before he left. They hired Scelfo and you see how that worked out.

So we should hire a less qualified candidate so they will be here longer? That's great logic.

Was Jimbo Fisher the "Best available" candidate for 6 years? Most of his offenses were not great.

Having or wanting stability does not equal fear.

You tool up the Offense for 1 style, then have to retool for for another every 2 years.

How does it affect recruiting?

Didn't say less qualified, said high profile. There is a tremendous difference.

Are you hiring for Flash/Glam/"We Da U" or good solid coaching?

You hire the best you can get and when it comes to him leaving, you just cross that bridge when you get there, Sandwich.

They are high profile for a reason. Because they are better qualified.

I agree. But it depends what type of coach he wants. Someone who will give him at least good 3 years, I suspect.

Great point, I'm still upset Malveto got snapped up after only a season.

BTW, you still think Saban is hiring Frank Wilson?

So we would want to hire a guy that nobody else would want so that we have stability for years to come? No thanks. Take the best guy. If he moves on, then get the next best guy at that time.
