I know it hasn't been announced, but does anyone think that Michigan offered Hoke less than $3 M?

He just got a raise last month at SDSU over the $3.5 M he was making. I know Michigan was his dream job, but he had the best negotiating position since he was about the only candidate left. Michigan also had to pay a $1.5 M buyout to get him. All of that after RR was making about $2.5 M and paying his buyout.

IMO, he's getting at least $3 M if not $3.5. Not bad for a coach from a non-BCS conference. And LSU fans are complaining about Miles at $3.75 M being too much.

I thought Hoke got 3.5 over 5 years...I was going to assume he was offered somewhere around 2.25-2.5 range...who knows...

San Diego State gave Hoke a five-year contract worth $3,525,000 in December 2008 to replace the fired Chuck Long. He went 4-8 his first year but last season led the Aztecs to their first winning season (9-4) and bowl berth since 1998.

Hoke had been courted recently by Minnesota, which ultimately hired Northern Illinois coach Jerry Kill. Last month, Hoke signed a two-year extension through 2015 that came with a raise - and a $1.5 million buyout.

I read that to mean he was earning $705k per year before the raise/extension. Let's just say he probably got raised to $1MM. I imagine UMich is paying him at least $2MM/year.
