Michigan recruiting class would turn away any coach

It would take Miles several years to build up a decent team. Michigan's 2011 class is nowhere near the top 25 (LSU #4), and Michigan's highest rated commitment is #84 (LSU has 4 in the Top 32).

Michigan has good talent. Just not on the defensive side of the ball. If the defense is straightened out, Michigan could win 9 games next season.

The only kids that want to go there are the ones that grew up diehard Michigan fans. Once Michigan lands a coach that is going to be there long term, their recruiting will go back to being decent. You could not pay me to go to school up north if I was an elite high school prospect, but Ann Arbor is a pretty cool town and UM has an awesome campus. Having said that, there is no way in hell if I was Les Miles that I could walk away from all this talent he and his staff have recruited in coupled with the class they have verbals on now. LSU has the talent to contend for a NC in 2011, 2012 and 2013. No way I would leave that to spend 3 or 4 years rebuilding UM to compete with the likes of Ohio State. Especially if I was 57 years old. If Miles stays put he is more likely to win another crystal ball before he retires.

I cant see how you think that Michigan is a talented team. Mississippi State arse-raped them.
They beat Indiana, Bowling Green, and Purdue, all losing records. They squeaked by Notre Dame, Connecticut, and Massachusetts....real powerhouses. It took them 3 OT's to beat Illinois (another powerhouse, hahaha).
Oh, btw thier lone Top 100 committment is a RB.

Sure he did, but to me that was a little different. Saban wanted to take his game to the next level and try to win in the NFL. If Miles left for any other school other than his alma mater I would be pissed. And if he leaves I wish him luck. But me personally, this team is loaded for bear and I would want the rings if it was me.

RINGS yes!!! Especially since Tenn is still down, FLA has a new coach, Auburn is losing Cam and the whole O line, Mallet is gone, Ole Miss sucks, LSU has beat state the last 2 decades straight, Alabama will have a new QB and Ingram is gone as well. The only true team in the SEC that is reloading is LSU.
LSU will probably be Top 5 preseason and has the opportunity to knock off the defending Champs in Oregon. Miles is primed to win NOW at LSU, and he probably will never be close to a title in Michigan.

We have a very young team on both sides of the ball. When Carr left, we lost like everyone on O. The next couple of seasons, RR concentrated on O recruits, and to top it off, we had kids leave/wash out on the D side of ball.
So now we are young on both Off and Def. A lot of freshmen got exp this yr on Def, and a good DC isnt going to work a miracle...but a jump down to top 50 next season isnt unheard of....especially getting our 2 starting CBs back from IR.
On Off we showed this yr we can drive on any team. Being consistent was our problem on that side of the ball, and not making stupid mistakes to kill drives. Indicative of a young squad, and a first yr starter.
I wish folks actually would follow the team if they wish to make the types of statements you are.
BTW....the thing we are missing on Off is a solid RB. Guess a top 100 player would fit in well there eh?

And you know this how?
Cause a team fielding a major portion of under-classmen got their tails handed to them vs Senior laden teams?
A def that half the time wasnt in the right position(which is on the DC), and had at any point up to half the 11 guys on field being freshmen? A number of which were in the secondary.
Or perhaps because everyone saw what our Off was capable of behind a first yr starting QB?
For not having any "talent", I like Denard's chances better to win the 2012 Heisman better than anyone else in CFB.
Just point to where things are so bad it will take 3, 4, or even more yrs to win 8/9 or more games in a yr.
Cause that is what the OP is claiming.
Unless you can provide specifics about Michigan, then STFU talking to me, as we have nothing else to converse about.

The fact is, Miles will have an uphill battle at UM. Boy he will remember the Louisiana Saturday Nights and cry in his iced tea......
