Yeah I didn't like it all that much. Normally when a movie comes out that happens to be a remake I'll end up watching the oldest one just before or after I see the new one. The Matt Damon one just really kicked arse for me....the Richard Chamberlain one, not so much. I had to rent it at the old blockbuster in Leesville around 2002 or so and it seemed like it was made for TV by the quality of the tape.

Did you like it?

Yeah, I did years ago. It seems like it was much more of a romance than an action flick? Matt Damon was definitely more of a bad-arse.

I haven't seen it but have been thinking about renting it. I like Chamberlain but the new trilogy is so amazing I cannot see how he could stack up to Damon.

well not tit for tat, but pretty much the same premise...SPOILERS:

he washes up on shore with amnesia, chick finds him and takes care of him etc...pretty much the same type of shite as the Damon version. Both of course are based on the book.

Yeah, those are pretty much my thoughts word-for-word.

The original was a made for TV during the Richard Chamberlain frenzy. I am a huge Ludlum fan and the Bourne Identity is one my my all time favorite books, so I hated the Chamberlain version. If I remember correctly, it was a 2 or 3 part mini series.

The Matt Damon movies are much better as far as movies go, but they have very little in common with the novels, because the books are dated.

Yea the older one stays truer to the books, the Damon one is a better updated movie. Good books though.

Haven't seen it, but surely it can't be any worse than the garbage Matt Damon/Bourne trilogy.
