Airline High School's coaching search is heating up. The Class 5A school is looking for a head football coach since Mike Greene was let go Nov. 30. Principal Jason Rowland said he's received about 18 resumes, including resumes from Vikings offensive coordinator Coy Brotherton and defensive coordinator Scott Reeder. He said the school will accept applications until Thursday but will start formal interviews Wednesday. "Some of the applicants have planned trips the following week," Rowland said. "We're just trying to do a lot here to thoroughly evaluate the prospects for the job." Rowland would not disclose any of the other names who have applied but said the majority of the applicant pool has head coaching experience. Rowland said he's met with his search committee -- a group of six faculty and staff members -- formally once and informally a half dozen times. "We certainly feel good about the process," Rowland said. "We plan on having it named on Tuesday, a week from (today)."

Link wasn't working so I had to improvise. It's on Shreveporttimes.com

Greene was a god man and a good coach.

These Principals come in and want to show their power and get "Their Own" coach.

Damn Shame Really.

Good ole coach Greene.. Was he let go purely as a power play or has airlines performance fallen off in the last few years.. Airline was always one of those places where one felt they should be great but the reality doesn't seem to fit this ideal. I can tell you though, Greene in his younger days was a good coach. I played for him his first year of head coaching and the transformation from the previous coach was incredible.

Could be.

David Feaster is the top man for the job. He is the best in the state at quickly turning programs around.

I don't know. I guess you already know the answer.

I know North La is considered to be East Texas but I did mean the state we are actually in.

I'm hearing John Hortman is the leading candidate anyway.

I heard wrong. Not Hortman but James Thurman is now the leading candidate.

Calvary's coach, Bo Meeks also put in an application. He put in one last year to be the offensive coordinator. He was fired this year.

Also, I played for Coach Greene, my dad and him are friends. He's a great guy, tremendously nice and down to earth. He just could never win in the playoffs, his vere and wing-t offenses were good when they had the athletes to play the spots, but in recent years, the number of players and athletes has dropped off. One thing I can tell all you, his teams were never scared of anyone or anything. Don Shows (West Monroe head coach) said that Airline always played them the toughest and that he hated playing us.

Coach Meeks, the Head Coach at Calvary Baptist, applied for the OC job at Airline last season?

I find that really hard to believe! Even harder to believe is that he wouldn't have gotten the OC job if he really applied.

I have heard conflicting reports as to whether or not Bo was actually fired. I've coached with Bo before. He is a class act.

He would be great at Airline!

Feaster interviewed yesterday. Bachman made too many demands and he's out. Meeks was just told to "shape up" or they would make a change according to other local coaches who spoke with him last weekend in NOLA. Feaster took Many and Minden to the playoffs the first year after both having 0-10 seasons. Leesville is on the rise, too.

Bo Meeks wasn't fired this year and is still very much the Head Coach at Calvary. Are confusing Bo Meeks with someone else?
