Anybody played this game? Is it worth buying if you liked the older NFS games?

Best NFS game I've played in a while. If you can get it for under $35 its well worth it.
Amazon on black friday had NFS for $29.

I'd say it's it's a step above Blur which is saying something. Blur got a lot of praise for being a good arcade racing game this year. You can't go wrong with either.
If your looking for sim racing: go with gt 5 or forza 3 depending which system you have.

I always liked driving all the cars in grand turisimo 4, but I never really got into it because it was more sim than fun, arcade driving or story-driven racing like NFS.
