If anyone has the opportunity, get him in your lineup tonight. He is likely to break the all-time fantasy record for weekly scoring.

Why?
Because I am winning by 54.3 points to claim a playoff spot. I have lost 5 games in this league, each loss coming against the high scoring team for the week. In week 11, I scored the 2nd highest of any team all season. Guess who I played against that week. That's right, the highest score of the season. I'm the highest scoring team in the league overall, and I'm fighting for a playoff spot.

Chances are pretty good that Greene will go off for 250 yards and 5 touchdowns tonight.

So you've just discovered that fantasy football mostly decided by luck.

Luck plays a part, but there is tons of skill involved. If its all luck, I must be lucky as hell. I've been playing since 1988 and haven't lost money yet.

Every league has its tards. They're usually easy to spot. In fact, based on the fact that you say there is no skill involved in fantasy football gives me a pretty good idea who it is in your league.

Of course you have special insight into injuries, players not performing to expected standards, etc. There are limited players and unlimited information that is available to anyone and everyone - the ability to guess correctly all the time, outside of the known is not available to any human being. Sometimes, though, you get lucky. So either you are the Less Smiles of fantasy football are you are playing against children. But good luck to you tonight my brilliant friend!

I never said luck wasn't a factor, but to say skill is also not involved is just dumb.

Most leagues have the same handful of people who do well each year. Are those people just luckier than the others consistently?

It's minimally involved if everyone is minimally competent.

Sounds like you're in a league where a handful of people actually keep up with sports and may read a mag before the draft, know who's injured and the other half have other interests and show up to hang with their buds. Beating the second handful is not a skill. AND you know that sometimes one of the second handful goofballs does well - he got lucky!

10-team league and for the regular season my team has the fewest total number of points for and against.

I do play in one league like this. However, my two "bigger money" leagues don't include many of those "hanging out with the buddies" guys. I also play in one cheap $50 buy in league that has 90% serious owners.

Again, I would never argue that luck isn't a factor, but strategy, knowledge, and hard work tend to make some players "luckier" than others.

Hell, I started this thread to show just how unlucky a team can get. The funny thing is that this is the league with a bunch of tards. I'll likely make the playoffs, then I like my chances, but I was one loss from having the best team and not making the playoffs. I understand the luck factor.

Anyway, this is an interesting discussion but neither of us is likely to change the mind of the other, so agree to disagree.
