This was sad news. I remember as a kid hoping just one day for the Saints to make MNF. It finally happened against Oakland. There was never a MNF crew like that one from the 70's.

My lasting memory of Meredith is him trying to explain to Cosell that the play they just ran was a reverse, not a double reverse because a double reverse would have required a 3rd handoff.

Yep. It was in 1979. Ken Stabler was QB for the Raiders. The Saints led at halftime by about 3 TD's, only to lose the game when Stabler threw 3 4th Qtr. TD's.
