Dempsey's --- Bad Experience

First off, I want to say I've been a loyal customer of Dempsey's for the past 3 years. I've always enjoyed there French Dip, Shrimp Poboys, and found their jambalaya with catfish to be a really good deal, but I have to say last night was the exception.
The girlfriend and I happened to be on the that side of town last night and figured we'd just pick up Dempsey's on the way home, as we've done many times before. Well when we got home we were both saddened by the food we were given to eat.
We both order essentially the same thing: 2 half French dips 1 with a stuffed potato and 1 with cheese fries:
First off the French Dips didn't have any gravy (aka: au jus) on the sandwich, which is something they've done to every sandwich I've order the past 3 years. Secondly, the gravy that did accompany the sandwiches was only filled to 1/3 of the styrofoam container it came in. Also the gravy was drastically diffenent in that it wasn't thick and was extremely greasy. Even the meat itself on the sandwich seemed different as it didn't taste right (like a lower quality of meat was used than normal). Finally, the stuff potato my girlfriend ordered was so dried out that it was practically inedible.
I don't know if this was just a bad night for them or maybe someone new is working in the kitchen, but if this continues I'll just have to venture else where.

i'd say if you have been going for 3 years and you just had your first bad experience it's probably not worth making a thread over

Well we haven't ordered anything from there in a couple of months, so I wasn't sure if anyone else had noticed recently that the quality of food had started to go down..........have they changed management, ownership, etc.?

Could a long drive home contribute to the dip in quality?

Nah, it's the same drive I've made the during the past year and a half to my house, during which time I've order Dempsey's at least 5-6 times.
On a side note, what's been zombie? Any cool new restuarants that you might recommend in the Baton Rouge area? Tried Le Creole yet?

Nah. Same owners and managers, and same great food. Even in the most elite restaurants, stuff just happens. I'm sure if you let the location know, they'll bend over backwards to fix anything you're unhappy about. They're locally owned and really good people, and got where they are by putting out a consistently good product and awesome service.
Give them a call, really, that way, if something did get switched, the owner will know and can fix it.
just my .02
ETA ( NOT DEMPSEYS, but don't wanna throw my fav place under the bus) end ETA
Not that it helps, but I drove across town last night for my favorite prime rib, only to find out they had none at 7pm. The ribeye sucked, and was cooked beyond well done, and the fries greasy bc they were refried instead of cooked fresh, making them really nasty. I'll still go back, but if this was my first impression, I'd prob never step foot back in one of my favorite places in baton rouge.
All in all, it just happens. It shouldn't, but it does.

your normal meal sounds awesome, even with you latest evaluation. Where in town is Dempseys? I live out in Central, but im in town from time to time during the week for work.

It's on Cousey in between Stumberg and Jones Creek.

Sounds like an unfortunate off night. That's one reason why I hate getting food to go. I'd be sad to get home to find out the meal was awful.
Life has been good. Super busy with work. No new restaurants recently except The Londoner

quit being a little bitch. You say you've been a loyal customers for 3 years. Why would this anomaly make you come say this on an internet message board. One bad experience?? come on man

Because it's an INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD Retard. Like I said I was just trying to find out if other people have had similar experiences lately.

I agree with this. Threads like this can hurt people's business. A lot more people read tigerdroppings than you think. If you've had good experiences for years and then you had a bad one, I would recommend mentioning it to management to let them know. Most likely they will fix it. It is hard to be on top of "everything" in a restaurant and like Jambo says, it happens sometimes.

FWIW, outback actually does a VERY good prime rib...one of the best I've ever had
