Wouldn't this kill two birds with one stone? Of course, Texas would shat on themselves...

Makes a ton of sense for football, but the Big 12 takes basketball--and even baseball--pretty seriously. Though I suppose just by joining a BCS conference, it would make those programs better as well. But you're right, Texas isn't gonna wanna to share that money. And they certainly don't want to give another Texas school BCS status.

Or why not put Boise into the PAC-10 or Big-10. TCU should go to Big-12 of course.

BYU, who has a national championship and a Heisman Trophy winner, has been begging the PAC 10 for 25 years to get in and they were turned down in the latest expansion, so what chance does Boise State have when you consider that it's only been a 1-A school for 14 years?

Plus they bring nothing else to a big conference: baseball (except TCU last year), basketball, etc.

TCU was already once a member of a big conference with the Southwest with Texas for decades from 1923 to 1996, it was just a casualty of the breakup and got left out...

The Big 12 is going to eventually ask another school to join why not bring TCU back to a big conference, keep the BCS money in the state and geographically not have to travel a long distance to play games in all sports like you would with an out of state school...

IMO I don't see nothing wrong with inviting TCU

TCU deserves the Big XII IMO. They are top 5 right now in football and very competitive in baseball. If I was the commissioner of that conference, I'd be on the phone with them(TCU).

On The Herd one day he was saying that major conferences won't take Boise St. because they don't meet the minimum academic requirements for acceptance into the conference and/or they're not a research institute. I can't remember exactly how it was said, but it was something along those lines, and if that's true, it leads me to believe that Boise St. will be forever trapped in second-tier conference purgatory.

Its actually Baylor that keeps blocking out TCU. They don't want another private Christian school to compete with, which is whatever anti-christian term you'd want to use. Hence the TCU to Big East talk.

That's ultimately the big problem for any of the smaller schools getting into a major conference. There's more to college athletics than football.

You're exactly right. Boise State was a junior college until 1965, and they still don't have a graduate school. Idaho is the flagship school in that state, not Boise Stae. I also think that Boise State's lower academic standards are what allows Chris Petersen to go into California and recruit would-be PAC 10 athletes that don't meet the academic requirements of the PAC 10 schools. These athletes are choosing Boise State rather than go the junior college route in order to qualify for schools like USC and Oregon.

TCU to the Big 12 makes much more sense than joining the Big East. Great insight on Boise. What other school do you think the Big 12 should add to get back to 12 teams? If the Big 12 would have completely blown up, I thought adding Texas AM and TCU to the SEC would have made a lot of sense.

would never happen one with TCU you arent opening up any more market by adding another team from Texas in the Big 12. Two Boise is good at football and that is it. You have to be better at more than one sport to join a big conference like that. TCU is atleast good at baseball.

Boise is not a research university.

That would make other conferences look bad.

TCU yes, but no BCS conference is going to let Boise in until they get rid of that gimmick field

Why would TCU and Boise move to a tougher confrence? They love complaining now and they basically walk into bowl games with their schedules. They say they want to be in a big conference but when it comes down to it they won't. Because when that happens they will be irrelevant.
