frick Bama! The thread about Bear even being outcoached is funny. Those Gumps can never let go. It'll always be about what Bear did; a man that died 27 years ago still hangs over all coaches that go there. Stallings won a title and had to leave because it's never enough for these idiots unless you win 6 in 2 decades, cheat on your wife, and drink yourself into a pulp daily..

What's really funny is the way gumps refer to LSU players as "Saban's guys" when LSU beat their arse. Like it takes away from the fact that LSU beat them. The players still chose LSU over Gumpville.

Jerry beat the Bear 20-10 and after that game the Bear knew it was time to give it up that the times had past him by. Up until that time the best defensive game I had seen the LSU defense play and Bama still scored 10 points. But, LSU had dominated them for the entire game and that was the thing that impressed the Bear so much.

Because of the Bear there will never be another Coach that be able to go in there and not be compared to the Bear. He was their Coach and he will always be their Coach and that being even from the grave.

Never mind the records that he accomplished while the Coach it was just his mere pressance on the sidelines that intimidated the Ref's. Whenever you where around him he always demanded your attention and you never forgot that voice that he had it was low sandy type voice and when he spoke you listened especialy his players or if he was talking to you and you knew it when he was talking to you. I will always remember my times of being around him whenever we played them but, that day in 1982 will always be a day that will be etched in my mind and is a day I will never forget. Rest in peace Bear but, at the sametime I am glad he is gone at least Saban seems more beatable.

Yeah, I'm glad you can't theoretically pay for players or intimidate refs into not making appropriate calls anymore. That always makes it tough to beat an opposing coach.

One of my best friends read the Bear's bio. He paid off everyone and says as much in the book.

Bammers always say, it wasn't illegal then....Like somehow it makes it okay.

frick Bama!

This shouldn't be a shock to them. We've been pretty close to beating them the last two years.

I'm betting that Les gets Nicky next year, too. Even if the game is in Tuscaloosa, LSU is better than the Tide in several areas like QB, TE, DL, and DB. And no worse than a push in the other areas.

The Tide has turned. Alabama will remain competitive, but never again will they see dominance like they had in 2008 and 2009.

Suck that Tiger dick Nick!

Im not a Bama fan but I was a huge fan of the Bear. My father respected him too. If LSU had a coach who did what he did we would be doing the same. There are still jackwagons that haven't gotten over Satan yet.

The Crimson Tide leads the head-to-head series at 45–24–5[1], but the series is split evenly at 14-14-1 over the last 29 seasons, including 2-2 during Saban's 4-year tenure at Alabama.

Wow!

Paul W. Bryant Jr.

School ties: University of Alabama (Class of '66)
Age: 61
Wealth: N/A
How made money: President of Greene Group, a privately held company involved in dog tracks, casino management, reinsurance and farming.
How much donated: N/A
School song/cheer: Roll Tide
Braggin' Rights: Best known as the son of the legendary football coach, Paul "Bear" Bryant. ... Currently serving a second six-year term on the University of Alabama board of trustees. ... Donates millions to his alma mater, including a $10 million gift in 2002 and led $100 million athletic fund-raising campaign.
The Buzz: 'Bama insiders say he has a hand in everything, but discreetly keeps his name out of the headlines. ... Looking for a coach after Dennis Franchione bolted in 2002, 'Bama AD Mal Moore flew down to Tampa on Bryant's private jet to interview South Florida's Jim Leavitt. Later, Bryant personally flew out to Washington on his jet and delivered Mike Price, who was fired before ever coaching a game. ... One of nation's leading advocates for preservation of Civil War battlefields.

This is the reason that the "Bear" will never die. His son has a lot at stake. Think about all the Bear Bryant royalties. When Saban first got to Bama he tried to get them to move on and quit dwelling on the Bear, much like he made changes at LSU. He was told to forget about it, it wasn't going to happen. So the "Bear" lives. This has got to really piss Saban off. No matter what he does he ain't the Bear and they won't let anybody, including Saban, forget it.
