Does ESPN have too much power in college sports? Promoting certain players and teams to the point of being shoved down your throat! Are they the biggest problem in the BCS formula?

Yes. Which is why we need a network like Versus rise up and weaken the monopoly.

In the early part of the 2000s I was hoping it was fox sports but they never really emerged to steal the thunder.

Why do you think USC won the AP crown in 03?

B/c the west coast bias in media and espn was all over their jock every year, despite their weaker schedueles

Yes. Especially since ESPN has tons of money invested in certain conferences but not all. Any company worth a damn is going to protect its investments. And in this case this means promoting certain teams/conferences while ignoring others. So when a "championship" is determined through largely subjective means, and people are reaching their subjective conclusions based mostly on what highlights they see on ESPN (since no one, NO ONE actually watches every minute of every game) and what ESPN talking heads are saying, then yeah, ESPN has way too much fricking power.

Championships in D1-A football aren't real championships until there is a playoff.

this explains why they hyped USC in 03-05 and are hyping BSU right now

Yes and it's probably not going to change anytime soon. The BCS is probably not going away either

SC winning 34 straight games probably had something to do with it.

His reasoning was priceless... Something to the affect that they could hang with anybody. Nothing with who they have beaten. I'm pretty sure Auburn would win every game in their division by 30 as well.
