So, we get the ball, tied at 17 with about 5 and a half minutes left - in the biggest game of the season - on national TV - with momentum going our way. All we need is a drive for a TD to get the W and propel us to instant national prominence.

The mark of a truly quality coaching staff would be to find a way to do just that.

What do we do: 3 and out - then let the other team score a TD easily. Then go 4 and out - with a disasterous fourth down play after a timeout.

This is not what good teams do....

We were beaten on the field not the coaching staffs. We were pushed around on defense and we couldn't block in the second half on offense. Call whatever play you want to and if a defensive tackle can throw the block away in an instant then the play is blown up. Where was Drake when Newton was standing there for two or three seconds waiting for the whole to open. He was getting blocked.

Draw?

Screen?

Protection Package?

Use their aggressive up field pursuit against them, that is what a coach would do....if only we had one.

I take exception to this. We were definitely beaten on the field, but the gameplan on both sides of the ball sucked donkey balls.

It wasn't the game plan. Even though we gave up a ton of rushing yards, we only gave up 17 points thru mid 4th quarter. Offensively, we just didn't get it done...17 points won't win many games in any league.

I disagree. When coachs see a gameplan is not working usually they make changes. We played 6 on 8 and a read and react defense instead of an agressive defense. Enabled their blockers to engage our front 6. Cornerback is one of our strengths. Play 8-9 in the box and blitz the gaps disrupting their blocking schemes and let the cbs lock down the recievers. We will never know if newton would have beat us with his arm b/c we didn't make an adjustment to see if it would have worked. Also agressive style defense usually results in better tackling.

This is the unanswered question. Just how good are we?
