Mathieu is a little ball of hate, but he is the size of Newton's leg. Will be funny to see him try to take down Newton on a blitz. FWIW, my money's on the guy who's never stolen a laptop.

I guarantee if Newton is in the pocket and Tyrann comes from the blindside, he will go down hard.

Our team needs a clinic on tackling going into that week. If we tackle Newton well, no reason we shouldn't win.

He will not have to tackle him, he will just make him fumble instead.

I love that when he blitzes, that he's much more concerned about stripping the ball that getting a highlight hit.

Agreed. At some point this year, Mathieu will cause a fumble on a sack that will be returned for a TD. He almost did it against MSU on the Nevis interception (essentially a fumble).

I wish I could find some pics or video of Randall Gay trying to sack Lorenzen. That was priceless.

Mathieu is a great hustler. What is his background. What high school did he go to etc.

Remember the deflection he got? He occupied three blockers and still got his hand on the ball. In the NFL, certainly the guys that slammed him to the ground would have been fined. I was glad to see he was still making plays and flying around the ball afterwards, because the bodyslam had the potential for serious injury.

If he was only 2 or 3 inches taller.....

I think PP7 is a good matchup off the blitz or a spy. Our other corners match up pretty good with Auburn's recievers.

I think Chavis should put Mingo as a linebacker/hybrid player (much like Terrell Suggs) and have him spy Newton the whole game. He's big enough and fast enough to keep up with Newton.

great call. I want to see a few good big hits on newton. make him hesitate a bit about trying to run on us and let him know what a real defense can do to him

ST. AUG. People just stopped throwing to his side of the field. He would out jump and hustle taller recievers to the ball.

The way we blitz, as long as our blitzers don't miss their opportunities, Newton shouldn't be able to run too well on us. Especially in 3rd and long situations.
