You guys are dead right about a few things, and at the same time, seem to lack the ability to look beyond the basic things going on right now. To look below the hood.

Yes, about once a year, a close game where LSU is the team with the ball, comes down to the wire, where Les stumbles...So, let's just say the law of averages took care of that this year. That is the quick of it, and of course it is more involved than that (lack of offensive identity THUS FAR, Crowton-Miles on different pages, etc...)

Yes, Coach Miles is one quirky dude, who speaks a one and only linguistic form that is best described as Mad-Hatter-Bonics. No one else speaks like that.

..I hope you have a "want" to hear this out, you "experts"...

LSU, not Alabama, has the best Defense in the SEC - and "defense wins championships".

LSU's Stevan Ridley, not Trent Richardson, Ingram, Demps or Lattimore, is the SEC's leading rusher. Miles and Saban have a national championship win in common in her respective time at LSU, and another thing they have in common is the knowledge and philosophy that a great horse at RB is the best compliment to a lights out defense, and that these ingredients put the odds significantly in your favor to win the SEC.

LSU, not ANY other team is 3-0 in the nation's toughest conference - the SEC. Furthermore, they are the only team in any conference that is 3-0 in their league, period.

LSU, not any other team, has the best special teams in the SEC (the kick coverage, punt coverage, FG kicking, punting, kick returning, punt return are all good-to-excellent).

LSU, more than any other team in the nation, is underachieving on offense - big time. But, there are reasons under the hood for this....

Oh, and there is one guy named Patrick Peterson to deal with. You know, probably the best player in all of college football?

So.... we all know the prevailing opinion on coaching and on the QB play, but let me tell you something (and I have not been a big supporter of Les Miles) - the coaching issue is only germane to once-in-a-while-end-of-game situations, and offensive play calling. I have to agree there has been an irrational affinity for the starting QB also, but that is about to change. Coach Miles stated that both QB's would play "liberally" against Florida. That is exciting to hear, and is what most in the LSU nation crave so desperately, cause LSU fans know this is the only thing on the field that is not getting done. The singular notable ingredient missing - THUS FAR. Every other facet is rock solid.

Even I admit, that Miles is a good Program Coach, recruiter, and I am going to give him just as much credit for the defense and special teams as I assign blame for the offensive issues THUS FAR. And, when you are at the bottom, there is only 1 way to go - UP. And let me tell you, LSU's offense has as much upside as any SEC team out there, and arguably more. You don't have to read the Wall Street Journal to know that "happiness is a low base", cause you are then going to be heading up from there, and that is the direction LSU is now going to head offensively. THAT is what most are upset about in Baton Rouge THUS FAR - under performance of the offense, mainly due to Qb performance issues, resulting in a limited playbook, predictability and ergo, offensive struggles.

Speaking of offense, here is what you can now expect to see. Agreed, it took WAY TOO LONG to get this point, but these adjustments will rise LSU to about a top third of the SEC offense FROM THIS POINT FORWARD.

So, let's put the past is behind us. LSU is 5-0. Period.

Jarrett Lee is going to make some mistakes, but let's say he plays the same level he did in 2008. Give the other team a "pick 6" every game if you want, and the combination of the remainder of the offensive kick/power, and the LSU defense and special teams, which are LIGHT YEARS better than the 2008 season, will translate to at least 2 wins over the "Big Four" of Florida, Auburn, Bama and Arkansas...and possible 3 or 4.

Or, more likely, Jarrett Lee is 2 years older and is a much improved QB. He threw for 185 yards playing less than half the snaps in the win last weekend, and people are overlooking his leadership and spectacular throws because they are too busy getting ratings talking about poor Coach Miles.

Split the difference if you want, but LSU's offense will be better, and potentially a LOT better from this point onward.

And, if you think Big Les is not going to use Shepard in the key upcoming games, you are fools. He will.

LSU is an average QB's performance away from being on the same level as Bama. LSU's defense and special teams are better than Bama's, and Saban cannot actually go out on the field and play. (Yes, he is a great disciplinarian, and a great coach.)

The LSU team has talented leaders comparable to "Saban's players" that helped win the 2007 national title. Patrick Peterson, Kelvin Sheppard, Drake Nevis, Russell Shepard and others are working behing the scenes to discontinue the sloppy play and penalties that were much more responsible for the LSU meltdown than anything else last weekend.

LSU outgained Tenn 2-to-1 - EXACTLY twice, 434-217. And LSU had to overcome 4 turnovers in the process.

So, watch the unfolding of the season, you "experts".

Go ahead and milk this for all the attention and Disney stock value (owners of ESPN/ABC) you can.

Let me tell you, though.

Jarrett Lee, a (hopefully) small dose of Jordan Jefferson, a bunch of the SEC's leading rusher Stevan Ridley, and some burst performances from Russell Shepard, Spencer Ware and Michael Ford are coming now. Rueben Randle, Terrance Toliver and DeAngelo Peterson are coming now.

And when these folks combine with the # 1 SEC defense and the #1 SEC special teams, you Experts that are lambasting the LSU nation and Coach Miles are going to look like anything but experts.

And, I am predicting something right here and right now. LSU will beat Alabama in Tiger Stadium on 11-06-10. In 2008, with a terrible LSU defense and a pretty good offense, Bama barely beat LSU. In 2009, with an improved defense, and a pathetic offense, and the help of the officiating crew, Bama barely beat LSU at Alabama. This year, LSU will be peaking offensively, and the defense will be looking for a stamp like that of Laron Landry on Croyle, or Chad Jones on Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson - this time, there are a plethora of fast and angry Tigers that will be gunning for a poster shot for McElroy's first visit to Death Valley. Blitz anyone?!

Herbstreit, Pollack, and the rest of you "experts" are paid entertainers. It is the Entertainment and Sports Program Network (ESPN), after all. You guys all work for Mickey Mouse. That's great. You are doing your job.

But let me tell you something....you are slowly but surely helping to galvanize the LSU nation. People like myself, a long time critic of Coach Miles, have had enough. You are helping galvanize the players too.

And we have you guys, and those like you, to thank.

Look out, "Experts"...and Hold on

THUS FAR, the criticism is warranted, all the while that LSU imperfectly arrived at a perfect 5-0 with wins over 5 FBS teams in UNC, Vandy, Miss State, West Virginia and Tenn - so congrats for doing your job and ripping the LSU nation, team and coaching staff.

You are helping us to galvanize, rally the troops, circle the wagons, etc, etc, etc...

But, look forward with me...cause Florida is in the wrong place at the right time, and LSU is going to rock the SEC world the rest of this year. Just watch.

post script: ATTN ESPN - If you are going to call Les Miles stupid, you need to consider how stupid it looks for your "BCS Countdown" show to only reference the AP Poll which is irrelevant in the BCS formula. signed, therocketscientist

SO you're saying...only offensive play calling

Well...that's HALF of the game.

It's half for most teams, but since LSU usually gets fewer plays than the other team I guess it's not...but THAT'S A BIG DEAL.

It's like playing with a half a team, or an arm tied behind your back,

be glad u dont have to hearDavid Pollack vomit his hate of everything LSU on sports radio everyday. This guy has a serious hardon for LSU and people can be talking about Braves baseball and he will find a way to bash LSU.

I've been reading Tiger Rant for a long time but never felt motivated to post until now. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment expressed above, and I sure hope I'm not the only one. I find myself rallying around LSU and Les Miles in a big way after hearing all of the negativity directed our way this week.

I have not been the biggest fan of Les -- I think his refusal to rid the team of Gary Crowton is almost a fireable offense by itself -- but I have reached my absolute limit of hearing the national media and non-LSU fans bash LSU and Miles. It's one thing for an LSU fan to be fed up with some aspect of the team and let off steam on this site. It's entirely another to have to listen to expert after so-called expert tell us how much of a "pretender" LSU is, how LSU has no chance in hell this weekend, how LSU was so lucky to win last week, Miles can't coach, etc. ad nauseum. They've exhausted every synonym of "putrid" in describing our offense. We are the freaking Rodney Dangerfield of college football. ENOUGH ALREADY!

It's time to circle the wagons. All of this external negativity gives LSU the perfect opportunity to play with a chip on its shoulder and up the focus and intensity to new levels.

And here's another thing -- we are not that far off from being a real threat to win the SEC. The defense and special teams are already there. And there is no denying that the offense is improving. I don't think this is an LSU team that will lose many turnover battles from here on out. Eliminate those and last week plus week one v. UNC are 2-3 td victories. I think the coaches will be able to get the penalties under control. We can already run it fairly well, so all we have to do is get the passing game going, which of course is easier said than done, but we have the receivers and it looks to me like Lee might just be good enough to get us there.

I think we stand a great chance to win this weekend in the old fashioned Tigers way -- when nobody else believes or gives us a chance. I hope the entire Tiger Nation fans/players/coaches use this negativity as fuel for the fire.

Let's win some games and make those experts fumble for words to explain how in the hell such a terrible, poorly-coached team with no offense whatsoever became SEC Champs.

If by rock the SEC worlded you mean we are going to lose 3 out of the 5 games to bama, UF, ARk, Aub, ole miss, because of Crowton, Miles, our passing game then I think you've got a point

However if they start JL then we'll be fine
