Wasn't the offense in 2007 a blend of Jimbo Fisher's offense and Gary Crowton's offense? I have heard this before. This would explain why all of a sudden after that year the stats went south.

Yes, I believe so. That offense actually used mis-direction plays and play-action from under center.

so I guess having Matt Flynn versus Lee/Jefferson have nothing to do with the stats going south?

yeah...Matt Flynn the SENIOR vs. originally LEE the frosh (redshirt?)

At any rate...let's try giving the reigns to a more mature and comfortable Lee full-time. Might work out for us.

careful, there...can't draw any conclusions....remember, Googs Leinart still suits up....as does Chasey Danielle.

I kind of wish someone reporter would go talk to Jimbo Fisher about his time at LSU and find out how Miles works with his offensive coordinator. (Sport2, I'm looking at you.)
Then we would know whether it's the offensive coordinators fault for calling crappy plays or Miles' fault for getting in the OC's way and not managing the game.

according to one particular widely known thread on here, Crowton has a history of doing well for 1 year, then deteriorating each subsequent year.

I believe this has happened at his two previous stops. Should our offensive woes continue, id have a hard time believing 3 consecutive times at 3 consecutive stops is a coincidence.

That was my point. The first year is a transition year, hence why the d struggled last year, but did improve from the previous year and now better than year 1. I agree the QB is part of the problem, but coaching is more of an issue to me.

you wouldn't take college-version Leinart or Daniel over JJ?

Who is this JJ you speak of?

I don't recognize a "JJ" as an LSU QB.

I was in a box with Fisher's family at the Peach Bowl the year Flynn played (because Jamarcus was injured) and tore it up. Talked to his wife who said that was the first game all year that Jimbo was allowed to run his offense without constant interference/meddling from Miles. She said he felt hand-cuffed all year...

The excuses are old at this stage, both these guys have been there long enough NOW to not only know the system their running , but running it effectively! I think the blame is squarely on both Crowton and Miles because either Miles is holding back Crowton from what he really wants to do or Crowton is just a terrible OC at this stage, but I think it is the former!
