I was looking something up to reply to another post and found this. I agree that Miles is very stubborn when it comes to making changes but the steady decline of the LSU offense is directly related to GC. His offense always works in year one when its new for Defenses to prepare for but after one season teams know what to expect and GC never changes.

BYU

Legend: LaVell Edwards, 1972-2000, 257-101-3 (.716), one national and 19 conference titles

Follower: Gary Crowton, 2001-04, 26-23 (.531), 0 national and one conference title.
Next: Bronco Mendenhall, 2005-present, 50–16 (.737), 0 national and two conference titles

Crowton won the MWC his first year with Edwards’ players, but failed to reach .500 in his remaining three years. Mendenhall has put together consecutive 11-win seasons, winning the MWC title each year.

Oregon 2005 - RECORD: 10-2
Oregon 2006 - RECORD: 7-6

Miles is directly involved. His offense has trends at LSU and Okie St. His offense throw the ball alot less after the first 2 years at a school. We have the combined perfect storm at LSU right now on offense.

Wow. I'll bet no one in Baton Rouge has considered that possibility.

so explain the change in offensive play calling since 2007 (GC's first year)

and also explain why UNC and WVU had no issues with it, first time they had seen it.

We tried Crowton's way in 08 and and the QB gave away a bunch of TDs.

We tried it Crowton's way in 09 and the entire offense was horrible.

Maybe Miles finally put his foot down and told this genius if he can't figure it out we're just going to line up and run the ball the way he wants. At least we can halfway do that now. Crowton sucks.

We try it 'that way' again and we win the SEC.

If you believe that then we cannot have a discussion. He has called all kinds of middle screens and bubble screens this year huh?

well if you are saying we used his system in 07 like your post above states, then how come we did so well that year with a new QB in his system? You can't have it both ways.

GC offense puts the ball in the air more than 16 times a game, if you haven't figured that out in your research then you might want to take another look. However, Les showed at OSU he will slowly reduce the amount of pass attempts each year.

As Crowtons influence on scheming and gameplanning each year has shrunk, so has our offensive production.

Or put another way, as Miles' influence (or stranglehold) over the offense has increased, our offensive production has decreased.

Take your pick!

2007 was a lot of Crowton...as was 2008. Past 2 years has been ALOT of Miles.

Miles is suffocating our offensive creativity.

And what have you seen from Jefferson to make you believe this?

If they tried Lee, and it turned out that he has improved, then I agree. But we have no evidence to draw your conclusion from.

Nope. Last year looked like the exact same offense as 08, it just couldn't move the ball at all. There was never an identity. I fully believe Miles has told Crowton we will be a heavy running team this year, and have no problem with it. That is our identity. If Crowton could coach a QB maybe the offense could be more diverse. He can't, so it isn't.

Forgot to add this to the other reply.

That is just wrong. Last year the offense was worse than it is now. The reason it is producing more (althought it still sucks overall) this year is because Miles apparently forced Crowton to run the ball.

I can't fathom how people can complain about the QB one minute, and then get mad about not throwing the ball more the next minute. Mind boggling.

Miles admits tonight he controls the offense and you start a thread saying it's Crowton's fault?

Actually his last two "good" years he had a senior QB.

When I first joined this site I was bashed repeatedly for speaking up on Crowton. Funny thing was I had just recently watched him for two years at Oregon so I couldn't have possibly been right
