I completely forgot about it, and I did not have any recordings or reminders set. Guess I will catch up next week. Just curious if anyone saw it and had any thoughts, spoiler free preferably.... but I doubt much happened anyway.

Whoops. Forgot it too. I'll have to catch it on the net later today.

Doesn't bode well for their week 1 ratings, if the only people on this site that watch it missed it.

I am sure the Tuesday move caught a lot of people off guard.

That is what I was thinking too.

Should I just check the usual suspects for this? I might just wait till next week and watch them back to back anyway... if they still do that. I haven't checked the guide.

edit: at 12:30 I saw an SG1 ep on, and I thought it was odd. Then I remembered.

Luckily my DVR caught it. Pretty decent and tied up some loose ends from last season's finale. Not sure what direction they are going to take though.

Interesting. The continuation episodes are always the best, I hope next week isn't pure filler.

Almost all of last season was filler.

I use icefilms for everything now although I am sure therir days are numbered as they seem to be one of the biggest and best for selection now.

I may be in the minority but I like most of SyFy's original series. Haven has been pretty good and Warehouse 13 is decent enough to watch. Stargate Universe could be pretty awful and I would still watch. The stargate concept has been one of my favorite science fiction concepts. SGU is much better than Atlantis IMO. The Destiny concept has so much potential. I just hope they explore more of the ship this season.

I agree.

It really is a cool faux science idea and show. Definitely one of my favorite sci fi franchises, maybe the favorite.

I disagree that this show is better than Atlantis. However, it does have a lot of potential. Then again, I'm still not sure it has more potential than Atlantis. Atlantis was a flying city to explore... in an inhabited universe with actual bad guys.

I agree. The problem with this show is that in truth they wanted to replace BSG not Stargate.

The show barely resembles the previous two. I loved the humor and miss it dearly.

Oh and they never use the damn stargate or find anything remotely interesting. That has to change this season or the show will not make it a third season.

I watched it (thanks, TIVO! :) ) after I got home from my running around. It was a decent episode, but I felt the "dream scenes" dragged a bit much. I understood it at the end, but until that point it did nothing but annoy me.

For this show to survive, the writers need to add an enemy race (i.e. goulds, wraiths, orai (sp? for all three)) and they need to give the people control of the damn ship and its damn warp jumps. I hate that damn countdown clock.

That would cost money. I have read this show is far more expensive than the past iterations but I simply don't see how that is remotely possible.

I still think they have been cheap asshats and that is why we haven't seen much of anything yet.

I would actually prefer multiple races like in Star Trek. I the Goul'd, Ori and Wraiths kept things on the cheap by being able to use the same effects over and over.

I really don't want to see another dominant race repeat although I guess it makes sense that in different areas there would be a dominant race.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

My review.

What a freaking cop out. Last season ended with them about to kill the crew execution style but then when the new episode starts they aren't.

Lou Diamond cop out.

Chloe cop out with mystical healing power.

Heck even dead baby cop out.

I did like the ending with the aliens having given the chick a sign that what she had seen was real.

Er... couldn't the bad guys have threatened to go back through the gate to kill all of the crew if Rush did not turn the shields up?

It wasn't a horrible episode but it was a huge cop out on the cliff hanger.

Is it me or did Eli drop a few pounds?

I really was hoping Lou Diamond was a goner because his character annoyed the piss out of me.

I hate that so many from the Lucien Alliance survived because now that means another split arse crew infighting.

Oh and to the cracker that said this is better than alliance, I disagree tremendously with that statement. Mckay by himself was more interesting and entertaining then every single person on the Destiny.

I'm a huge fan of the stargate brand, but I didn't even realize it came back on.. Much less on a Tuesday. I'll catch up on it soon. I'm sure it was slow.

Not if they keep skimping on story and effects.

I was hoping Lou Diamond would die because his salary is probably more than 2 or 3 other cast members combined. Or at least I think it would be.

^^^^This...It's like they're attempting to make a hybrid of BSG and Stargate Atlantis. Doing a poor job of it too. I'm watching this season but if I don't start seeing freaky-looking, blood thirsty, killer aliens and strange new worlds, I'm out. I have loved all of the other SG series. Scifi channel--either feast or famine...aint much in between.

I watched it, and while I wasn't blown away, I did enjoy it. The resolution was kinda a cop out imho - but it did allow for some interesting future possibilities. I'm glad this series isn't just another rehash of the Stargate formula, we've been there and done that. This one is beginning to grown on me - I never really disliked it, I just felt kinda meh about it, but I'm warming to it.

I'm not sure what you warmed to.

I agree they don't need to retread again, but they could make it different by simply not having an Ori, Gould or Wraith type race.

I would like the Voyager formula where they meet different dominant races the further they move into space.

This show is already a carbon copy of Voyager which had the initial crew struggle with the Maquis and the crew was lost a gazillion miles from home. So it may not be a retread but it is still a copy of another show. Hell the gate is just a longer distance transporter.

However even though most people weren't a fan of Voyager, it was 100 times better than SGU. At least on voyager they actually visited planets and did something.

While the story may be similar to Voyager, as you've mentioned before the feel is nothing like it. It's quite a bit darker than Voyager.

I actually LIKE that it's sorta Battlestar Galactica lite. I like the conflict between Dr. Rush and the main military commander (I'm horrible with character names in general.) The characters are starting to grow on me.

To each their own. I'll admit that I'm a scifi whore - I like Voyager, Enterprise, Atlantis, Capricra, all of which I've heard declared the worst ever.

I liked Voyager too. Just wasn't a fan of Janeway. Enterprise was actually getting better when it ended. I loved the alternate universe episodes. Especially the different opening theme song.

There is a reason you can't remember the names of the crew on Universe. They are all forgettable. It has nothing to do with your memory. I am not sure I have ever watched a show that all the way through a season, I didn't know the names of the characters.

I know Rush and Eli and that is it. Simple truth is that although the show is dark they really haven't developed anyone fully.

Oh, Chloe and her new mystery healing power. I know her.

There is permanent smirk black soldier guy. Big Tits soldier chick. Asian bitch. 3rd string scientist guy. And then the chief and co-chief. And Lou Diamond.

I maintain it is not warming on you as much as you think if you can't remember the names of the crew after a full season. And I'm sticking to it.
