I noticed that chavis did something that i havent seen him do in his tenure here thus far.

Maybe some of you have seen it from him before and I missed it but I saw him disguise some of his blitz packages.

There were several plays where he had Mathieu and Sheppard (sometimes others but these two were the ones I remembered) crowd the LOS like they were blitzing, only to drop back into coverage just before the snap. In other instances, he would have them do the same except they would actually blitz.

This was a missing piece to what I think leads to a dominating defense. It's great seeing the defense doing this now. I think this will be the key going forward to be able to stop stronger offensive teams.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, think with the speed he put on the dline, this allows us to use more disguises. He has really developed some great players on defense. These guys are playing assignment football at a very fast pace. Great job chief.

I am sure this has been talked about here but is this his first year in the booth? Seemed like he was always on the field, even at Tenn. Could be wrong.

And yet last year at this time the football geniuses on this board were wanting to have him fired before he did any more damage.

Agreed he is doing some great things with the Defense, it is completely different defense than last years. I think he is really enjoying with possibly the most talent he has ever had to coach.

Last week he had the linebackers and db's interchanging and moving all around.

The NegaTigers have abandoned Chavis for Miles, Crowton and Jefferson. I hope their joy ends this weekend.

Alot of the disguising blitz, comes from the players. Saw Peterson several times move from covering a wide reciever to faking an off end blitz, then drops back in to coverage. Alot of that is players knowing the situation and trying to confuse the offense. Hats off to Chavis teaching some of these kids that, and giving them free reign to do it.

He was in the booth at Tennessee as well at times. Go to youtube and find the clip of our upset of Tennessee in 2000. Clearly shows a forlorn Chavis looking out from the booth after Josh Reed's 58th touchdown of the game.

It's called personell when you have the speed and abiltiy to blitz affectively it changes everything. He played to our defenses strength last year. He knows what the hell his is doing.

Something tells me Cooper has a lot to do with this.

Kelvin Sheppard is practically a coach on the field! He does an amazing job and as great as PP is- I think #11 is even more valuable!

I do, but now it is a term of endearment...... Almost like "pulling a Monica".

Personel decides what you can and can't do. Last year are corners weren't near as good as they are this year. That allows for more blitz, during the 3rd and long.

I have noticed it. I really like the way he is using the young talent.
