lack of progression of players

i have noticed over the last few years that it seems our players get bigger, faster, and stronger, but the don't progress mentally. our teams the last few years have been extremely athletic, but they lack the fundamentals and discipline it takes for a championship team.
look at saturday for example...
the 3 touchdowns we scored were made on athletic plays (rs's td run, pp's punt return, and rr's catch). these were guys who are great athletes making plays, but we lacked the ability to sustain a drive.
this is my reasoning for looking at coaching as the problem with our team. we get great athletes out of high school, but it doesn't look like they progress as much mentally as they do physically in their time at LSU.
a recent example of this is someone like Al Woods...
NFL scouts were wondering what LSU was doing with him during his time at school
(that is paraphrased from Mike Detillier after the Saints drafted him)
i just have noticed that since 2008 it seems like this has been the case. with the level of athlete we get every year through recruiting, we cannot expect them to mature into great college football players just through game experience.
i personally think that its the head coach's job to insure that these players are progressing in ALL aspects of the game.
nevertheless....

It's the players' faults because Les Miles is a family man and can do no wrong. Are you at practice?! How can you possibly know more than these coaches? Have you played football in real life or was it just on NCAA on your playstation? Not EVERYTHING is Les Miles' fault.

Totally agree! It's really amazing how people still thinks that we are a dominant team in the SEC and have know problem with us running a High School level QB option Offense when we have so many top teir athletes being wasted. Team has not progressed any since last year!

Yes it is. You make $3.8 a year, it's all on you big fella.

Hey guys i'm not sure if you are a Miles supporter or not but he's got a point on the improvement factor. JJ and Lee haven't really changed much or improved into a quaterback that can lead a team and that i blame coaching. I do agree that isn't not all directly Les's fault. But he is the head coach and he surrounded himself with the guys that aren't doing their job. We saw one game this year and everyone is complaining how its going to be a long season...ever wonder why that is. Its because it was a continuation of last season. We expected improvement and by far that isn't what we saw...no excuse for playing a team so defensively overmatched.

Jackson123,
If you couldn't detect my sarcasm, then I have failed.

Let me ask you a question. If your car is running bad, do you need a mechanic to tell you this? You may not be an expert at fixing it, but it's pretty obvious something is wrong.
Can't you see that LSU is underachieving? Can't you see that the program is slipping? Can't you see that LSU has two Junior QB's who are playing like Freshman?
I will trust what I see and what experts like Mike Detillier say. I'm not taking Miles's word for it.

They don't develop for a simple reason and it starts and stops with Less. Then Stud has yet to show he can develop an OL. Cooper is a pood DB coach and Haley isn't a top DL coach. The question on BG remains to be answered but McCartney sucked as a WR coach. As for Ensminger, he has yet to develop a player in his coaching career and remember where we rescued him from.

One might suggest that you take at least one high school level English course before posting.

The 2nd team secondary. Their front 7 was not weak.. comparable to Georgia probably.

We still went up against their starting LBs.

The hole in your logic is that you have to know what a properly running car is like before you can determine that is isn't running right.
All of your assumptions are based up the idea that you have a deep and comprehensive understanding of the points you raised.
It appears that your "trust" is based solely on those who already share your opinion.
Placing your "trust" on a radio personality over a coach is risky at best.

Didn't they have 2/4 starters on their DL too? It was half intact and let's not act like a backup DT doesn't see time.. ALL good programs rotate their DTs, it'd be like us starting Josh Downs.. would that bother anyone?
Not me.
