you want the real answer? Alleva and the athletic department wouldn't pay for Crowton's buyout. Miles had been looking for someone to replace Crowton, but Alleva shut that down quicker then Duke's lacrosse program.

The timing wasn't in crowtons favor. He couldn't find a job that he wanted and miles wouldn't pull the trigger on firing crowton.
He will be gone after this year. It could cost miles his job too.

LSU has from the beginning of the program managed their money worse than any other state program in the country. They seem to have gotten their act together the past 10 years or so, but it still remains to be seen what they do with the new influx of money. So far, so good. But there's a lot of catching up to do.
