I was pretty damn "close" in my last post. “Let er Rip part 2” . I said we would “coast” in the second half because we did not want to show any of our plays.I also predicted several "mistakes". Although I am now 59 years old I still recall Fair Park High School Coach Roy Wilson (former LSU lineman) preaching to us many times inside a cold dank locker room that the game is 60 minutes long.(actually our games were only 48 minutes long but he always said "60")He told us we should play "hard and strong" for the entire 60 minutes. It seems the Coaches of UNC preached that too. We are lucky. I still support our coaching staff although there have been times last night when I almost converted to a negatiger. It was not a case of bad game management, it was a case of “stupid” game management. Like I said, we should have stomped a hole in those cheating bastards and run the score up with NCAA record numbers. We had them on their back sides and then not only let them get up but we actually gave them a hand. We shot ourselves in the foot and then we reloaded. We got sloppy and uninspired and gave a chance to rule breakers on a second string of a second rate team to come very close to beating us while we witnessed one of their suspended players setting in the stands dressed up in his ghetto garb and smiling through his grill.

I have been a Tiger fan for over 50 years. I have witnessed, listened to or watched over four hundred Tiger games. I have seen them win, lose and tie. Last night for the first time after watching the Tigers "win", I went to sleep with a sinking feeling as if we had lost. That is a bad omen. Although I am still optimistic about the following season, I must admit I am beginning to have my doubts and find myself leaning to the dark side. There was no glory in our win. Only relief. There was no despair in their losing only honor. Honor for a team that had be caught in multiple NCAA rules violations.

So once again, we escaped a debacle or what the announcers said would have been the most humiliating loss in Les Miles career. The really sad part of all of this was the absolutely remarkable performance of PP7 will be overlooked.

Ok, I may have drank way too many Magic Hats. But I have to end on a positive note. JJ was not perfect but he did seem to have a solid grasp on leading the team. Well..... he did in the first half when we were not in a "hold pattern". I see a lot of his rough edges becoming a lot smoother soon. I particularly enjoyed his “John Cena moment”. Former Cy Ridge quarterback Russell Shepard is the real deal and of course Patrick Peterson was amazing.

As I said earlier, I still support our coaches (although I am still pretty pissed) Perhaps the choices tonight will end up as “wise” over the course of the upcoming season.
