" It is a Mess! To tell you the truth, we would have a better game if the second string of LSU were to take on the first string" Brent Musburger
So....... now we know that the Tar Heels will be fielding a lot less of a team than first anticipated.
Poor North Carolina. But wait..... how about poor LSU? Think about it. Regardless of the outcome of the game, the Tigers will receive negative press. If we win big.... everyone will say, "of course you should have won against a cream puff team". If the final score is close... a lot of people will claim "LSU could not do that well even against a heavy penalized team". If we blow the score out.... people will state that LSU did not show poise, class or good sportsmanship. The way I see it, it is "Damned if you do and Damned if you don't" .
Most people will simply feel sorry for those poor guys in powder blue. They will lament on the harshness of the sanctions/penalties. The Tar Heels will be praised on how they have "held up" under the circumstances. Yet the Tigers will get the shite end of the stick....once again.
Like I said in an earlier post, I feel we should roll up a NCAA record breaking score against those cheating bastards. Why should we feel sorry for them or for that matter show them any respect. They broke the rules, repeatedly...we DID NOT ! Why the hell would or should we be penalized even indirectly? I will tell you why.... Oh hell ! You all ready know.
This is my prediction as to the game.
A lot of pre game hype will be made of the 12 players from North Carolina not being in Atlanta. We will hear countless kudos for the exceptional defensive (first round type players) team of North Carolina. Eventually, Lee Corso will dress up like Mike and everyone will predict LSU to prevail. But you will hear several caveats and "what ifs".
The first quarter of the game will be sloppy. It will remind you of the play of last year's opener. The Tigers will not be that impressive. Don't worry about making that observation. The announcers will do that for you. Score at the end of the 1st quarter 10-3 LSU.
The second quarter will be a lot better for the Tigers and they will score three touchdowns (one being a defensive touchdown) and go into the half with a 31-10 lead. Yes, the Tar Heels will have one impressive drive and score a touchdown on blown coverage. LSU will have one great play called back because of a stupid penalty.
LSU will score early in the third quarter. At that point we shall see the Tigers go into a holding pattern. We will see nothing but simple plays for the remainder of the game. Score at the end of third quarter, 37-10. LSU.
The fourth quarter will be flat as hell for the Tigers. The Georgia Dome will begin to empty early in the fourth quarter. Coach Miles will have been shuttling his second string in since mid way through the third quarter. The Tar Heel will score two cheap touchdowns and the Tigers will kick a chip shot for a field goal. The final score will be 40-24 Tigers.
Not a bad score I suppose but it will be used to demonstrate the weaknesses and short comings of the Tigers while supporting the fortitude of the Tar Heels.
After the game critics will rave on how gallantly the Tar Heels played and will highlight LSU "glaring" O Line problems and lack luster quarterback play. Even though it will not have been issue in the game, someone will mention clock management problems of the Tiger and will recall the Ole Miss game of last year one more time. It will be stated more than once that the game did not do anything to subside or quell talks of replacing LSU's head football coach. It will be stated over and over that the Tigers still need to improve if they intend on competing for a SEC Championship or possible National Championship
LSU will move up one or possibly two places in most of the polls.
I guess a "win is a win"
It is always a good day to be a Tiger Fan

No one will remember any of this in 6 weeks when we'll be 5-0 going into FLA.

Unless TJ Yates can pass 3TDs , I don't see how the score that damn much. our strength is the secondary so no way in the hell is garbage QB gonna do that. They score 7 if they are lucky

If LSU scores 40 pts this weekend, nobody is going to use that to point out shortcomings. We are playing a ranked, BCS-level opponent in the ACC. It's not like we are playing ULL and they had 15 guys suspended. Their 2nd team could beat McNeese and La Tech, so if LSU puts up 40 pts on them, I'd be very much happy with that.

I agree with all that except the score. They will not score that much at least they better not. But who knows it's the first game.

Foot on the throttle, don't come off until the clock reads 00:00. If the score is 21-10, great, if the score is 66-7, even better. I am all for playing backups once we have a comfortable lead, but to stop trying to score with whom ever is in there is BS. The players don't want to stop trying to do their best (only have 60 minutes a game) & the people paying for the tickets don't won't to see us sit on a lead. This is what has gotten us into trouble a few times. Back in the day when Spurrier was at UF, people may have given him shite for running up a score, but he was feared. That is the only way for this team to get that back. People should fear playing us and traveling to Tiger Stadium.
