I had my first draft yesterday and TE's came off the board like crazy. I usually jump on one pretty early because this is a league that requires a TE starter, and all teams must draft 2. In most years, there are 2-4 really good TE's, and I like to get one of those because it essentially gives you an extra starter in your line-up.

This year, I think TE's are extremely deep compared to most, but the TE's were drafted at what I thought was a crazy rate.
(10 team league)
Witten 3.01
Finley 4.01
Clark 4.03
Gates 4.08
Davis 5.09
Gonzolez 6.04
Shiancoe 7.07 (by the Gonzolez owner)
Celek 8.05
Daniels 8.07

Is it just me, or is this crazy? As I said, I like getting a top tier TE in this league, but none of these fell to me at what I thought was a good value. I ended up with Winslow and Carlson in later rounds.

Witten and Finley going before Clark and Gates is a joke

you will be fine....smarter to get a player who will get more touches than a TE, than to rush to get an elite one and pass up a good production player. you made a smart move

Not a rule I would make myself, but I can play by any rules as long as I know them ahead of time. You just have to know how to adjust your drafting strategy to fit the rules.

Witten 3.01

that's the biggest reach, imo. I like Gates, Clark and Finley better.

I have Finley in 3 leagues....got him in the 5th round in (5.01, 5.07, 5.08) all of them.

I agree Witten was the biggest reach. That guy picked first, got CJ, and still ended up with the worst team IMO.

Perhaps the Witten pick skewed everything to make the entire draft look worse than it was. However, I did check and all of these TE's except Celek and Davis were drafted before their ADP (of course, ADP's vary).

I'm just waiting for Dallas Clarke to get injured again...no practice, means not in football shape, means out for season, and Jacob Tamme Goldmine...IMO, but I could be wrong

Sounds like you need to invest in a Dallas Clark voodoo doll.

Nice job. The drafts I've seen range anywhere from early 4th - early 5 for him. Who were you going to get if he got nabbed before the fifth?

is it a PPR league?

i dont see how anyone could call Witten a reach if so.

96c 1145 yards
81 952
94 1030

he plays every week. He's much less of a reach than Dallas Clark, imo, who is always seems to be nicked up. Whose highest catch total before last year was 77.

Witten is bound to find the end zone more than twice, imo

statistically a player is considered a reach if he's taken 10-20% before his ADP

like if his adp is 56 and that's with a deviation of 20% picks ~45-66 , then he's a reach at 36.

Not exactly sure the stats on his ADP, but it might explain the "reach" comment

Im talking in terms of taking him before the other guys.

He has as good of a case as any, esp in a PPR league.

taking any TE in the 3rd round is laughable. I wasnt talking about where he was drafted.

KFFL has his ADP as 61.
