I hate it that Herbie & Muffberger are calling the game Saturday night....means I will drink more to tolerate their crappy in game commentary.

He showed love for Ruffino's but does he really think Notre Dame's student section is better than ours??

has him as the best player in the conference, pretty impressive considering the returning heisman trophy winner is back

I like them calling the game(more Herbie than Musberger). Herbie is pretty good and will probably pull a Lundquist-Daniels/Tebow-esk lovefest for the talent the Tigers have on the field

TOP DEFENSIVE MINDS
T-1. Bo Pelini, Nebraska
T-1. Will Muschamp, Texas
T-1. Nick Saban, Alabama

Makes you sit back and think about the 2003 and 2007 LSU defenses and how respected/good they were...

2003 LSU Saban and Muschamp
2007 Pelini

back to the 2003 NC- lasy year
the only 2 men labeled as "Head Coach In Waiting" were Beau Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher.....think about that

I enjoy the Herbie's. I think he hits the nail on the head. There is no doubt in my mind that Patrick Peterson is the most complete football player in the conference. Bama fans understand that Julio was hurt last year, AND AJ Green is still better...

Pelini is good but Herbstreet is nuts to say he's tied with Saban. Saban is clearly better to me.

The funny thing is...... everyone on this site bitched and complained about the 2007 defense.

I've never been to LSU (and I'm biased) but ND has an amazing student section. It's too bad the rest of the crowd sucks. Both LSU and ND have great student sections, though.

How can you not be high on PP? ND stadium is quiet and since they gave the Zero an honorary degree, the contributions have dropped off.

Two reasons:

1) The stadium is built like a bowl. Similar to Michigan Stadium, it doesn't trap much crowd noise in.

2) 70,000 of 80,000 are a wine and cheese crowd. The 10,000 students are nuts and loud, though (and we're talking about student sections, not the whole stadium).

That's completely untrue, but regardless, I don't know what that has to do with this thread, anyway.

who cares what herbstreit says, he has saban's in one hand, and carrol's in the other. herbstreit is a glamour school homer....screw what he thinks. ever see how often he is wrong. I don't take his positive or negative statements to mean jack shite.

I was going to ask about the capacity. I went in the mid-90's to see them play Purdue. I really enjoyed the game and all its festivities. But the campus is wayyy smaller and less chaotic than a southern football game. Great time regardless.

It's an interesting campus, because the main portion that has all the classrooms, dorms, stadiums, basilica, grotto, dining halls, student union, etc, is OK in size, but not that big, but technically the campus is pretty huge, because outside the main stuff you have stuff like the lakes, golf courses, and cemetery and then just random land that's basically used for nothing.
