Get paid $5+ million when the the 29th pick got a little over a million. Also, I noticed deshields got only $2+ million and he was the 8th pick. I realize this happened last year too with ZVR, but I am just wondering how MLB let's this happen? Seems like a bad business model IMO.

in baseball your draft position means little

later round guys who are threats to go to college get paid more than top 3 round guys all the time

Can anyone compare ZLees contract with the top 5 or 10 picks?

Exactly. All about leverage. And having a full ride to play football and baseball at a major program is about as good as it gets for leverage.

If that is the case then I'm sorry.....it is a bad business model. Doesn't mean the MLB is a bad league just that they need some tweaks (much like the NFL and the rookie pay scale).
