I admit I spend way too much on flashlights. Surefire is my favorite and most expensive. Streamlight and Fenix I like also. Im talking more from an EDC and defensive use perspective. (Yes, flashlights can be used as a defensive weapon) Anyone else?

Maglites deffinatly. I used to have this 24" one that I kep in the truck. Ran on 4D batteries. You could put a serious pop knot on sombodies head with that thing. Unfortunetly the batteries corroded in it and I had to throw it away.

Guys, get away from maglites. Get you an LED light. Maglite is way behind. They are not even in the game. If this thread keeps going you will learn alot. Start with a Streamlight LED or Fenix LED. Surefire is tops but expensive.

The thing I've noticed about the led lights is that the beam isn't as focused and doesn't travel as far. Sure it's bright as hell 6" away but it seems like it disperses quickly. I like having the spot light effect of the maglite.

4X, You must not be watching real good. LED beats the hell out of Xenon. Light pattern and all. Surefire, Streamlight, Fenix and everyone else. I have carried maglites also.(In the 90s) But they are just not getting it. Technically the LED wins.

Fenix TK 10 2 here. My Fenix will blind you if I flash it in your face. Not much bigger than a cigar. 225 lumen is incredible to see coming out of that tiny little light. It feel like you have a light saber the first time you turn it on.

The best for me, when working outside work and hunting, is the Pelican waterproof flashlight. I first saw them when I went offshore for a job. They are waterproof and hella durable...also put out one hell of a beam

I switched to LED Lenser lights a couple of years ago and have been VERY happy. I was always a Mag light user and had trouble with the smaller units finding blood at night. Below is close to the model that I have and this little bastard is bright. Cost is under $100

IMO, those little cheap azz things that clip to your cap, ARE the best thing for a hunter since,,, well, a long time... Just enough light to get in climber or any kind of stand.. Leave it on, or take it off after you get up the tree.. Not for trailing, but, enough light to walk, with climber, over the shoulder, bow, etc. etc..

I have tried most flashlights out there. I own maglites, surefires, and streamlights. I found these little lights that home depot carries to be a great light for the price. The brand is Coast and this is just one of the models they make.

I have a light on my cycle that will shine 100+ feet down the levee if I let it. Small as heck too.
