The Mariners scored all five of their runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. Ronnie Richardson (Central Florida) was hit in the head by a pitch with one out, suffering no injury, then stole second and moved to third as the throw to second was wild. Continuing the one-two punch from the night before, Austin Nola (LSU) drove Richardson home with a single for his team-leading third RBI. After Michael followed with a single of his own to put runners at first and second, Hyannis starter Jummy Messer was replaced by Matt Dermody.

The Hawks made things interesting in the sixth by picking up two runs in the sixth off Will Locante (Tennessee), who struck out the side an inning earlier. Locante picked up the win nonetheless, with Matty Ott (LSU) going the final inning and two-thirds for the save. Ott struck out the side in the seventh.

Was this game over the weekend? Ott had thrown 2 hitless, scoreless innings in his first few games up there.

Nola started slow as the leadoff guy, but they moved him to 2nd in the order and he went 3 for 5, 2 for 3 and 3 for 4 in the last few games.

Hanover is doing really well too.

Of course. He was planning to peak during the CWS.
