Lynn Rollins said on the local Lsu Radio show Tiger talk yesterday that every effort was being made by Jumbo Sports and CST to televise this weekends Regional at UCLA. Of course as we all know the logistics required to make this happen probably will be to big a mountain to overcome.

Lynn said if they bid, that it would go in at 12 today and we should know somthing probably later this afternoon or tommorow morning! He said he thought it was fifty, fifty! If the do bid it's the NCAA decision not UCLA's. So, hopefully they can perform a minor miracle and put CST in to a stadium that alot of Louisiana hight schools are better equiped to host a regional in!

So, maybe we can hold out some hope that somthing will still get done. But the more information I get about these horrible facilities I am begining to think we are all going to be tuned to the radio this weekend!

Including renting auxiliary lighting. No way those two strings of lights on each pole can support color TV for a night game.

I don't think the shittyness of the facilities will come into play, if UCLA makes it thru ESPN will broadcast the supers from there, so why not CST?

& cox broadcasts n Irvine, CA, so logistically they are already set up out there. Get it done Jumbo!!!

If UCLA wins this regional, they host a super regional - which would be televised on ESPN. If they cannot accommodate CST, they certainly would not be able to accommodate the world wide leader.

UCLA upgraded its lights a couple of years ago to host a super regional. It's not an issue.

They just need to upgrade the seating capacity.

I bet they used temporary lighting like we had to do for a while at the old Box.

LSU should set up a deal with them, if we have more than inquiries than tickets available, like a few hundred more at the least, we'll buy the extra bleachers for the series for our fans. Just get some metal cheap bleachers

Every stadium selected to host must meet minimum NCAA standards to facilitate TV. Their press box can't be any worse than the Old Box.

I thought UCLA hasn't hosted since 86?

Unless you're saying they upgraded their lighting in preperation to host a future super, if so carry on

Furthermore if it is profitable for CST to do this (not lose money), and they indeed bid, then I believe the NCAA will absolutely allow them to broadcast the game. For nothing else, allow the kinks to be worked out before ESPN potentially comes the following weekend.

I think this one is ultimately up to CST and it's sponsors.

Super regional in 2008.

ETA: They didn't host, but had to improve the lights to bid, I guess. From their site:

In addition to a renovated field surface, UCLA improved its field lighting in May 2008, allowing the facility to maintain standards needed to host an NCAA Super Regional.

I'm sure Ronnie Rantz is working on this as we speak. This is L.A. The media capital of the world. The production facilities are there. The question now becomes money. It's all about the sponsors now, not CST or Jumbo. If they get the money from the sponsors, it will happen.

Just got an email from CST. Keep hope alive.

quote:

Please understand that to broadcast an NCAA regional, we have to place a bid with the NCAA to do so. We have done that and we hope to have an answer by the end of the day today. If we are awarded the regional, we will be extremely excited to be able to bring the regional to LSU fans.

Then this answers my question. If they've placed a bid, that means they have the sponsors. It's all up to the NCAA now. GOD help us.
