so he could determine whether he had any real help on the Cavs in the event he returns?

That he has a right to basically throw the game (he just said "to prove a point") to see if anyone else will step up?

What kind of crap is this? And this coming from a guy who basically picked the Celtics from the get-go because they are a veteran team finally healthy in the post-season?

I don't have an explanation for why LeBron checked out last night, but this excuse-making for him is out of control.

Excuse making or explanation? I don't think anybody is trying to justify why Lebron did shitty last night, they're looking for a reason.

If Mie Brown had any damn sense he'd put ST in the damn game he's the only Cavs guard quick enough to even try to guard Rondo

Well as previously discussed, Kobe did the same thing a few years ago in a game 7.

Except Kobe only took 1 shot the entire 4th quarter and completely stood in the corner, passing it every time to prove his point.

I think the explanation -- he's trying to make a point -- is an excuse for the fact that he just sucked last night. It's a post-hoc rationalization, IMO.

He did purposefully tank IMO. But I think it's because he already decided he doesn't have much help and is leaving. Just my opinion, but he definitely didn't give a shite last night for some reason.

Not really. Cleveland's beat writer criticized him last night for staring into space and not paying attention during timeouts. He has had bad games in the playoffs before, but last night was different. He didn't seem to care at all

I don't think saying Lebron threw a game on purpose is making excuses. Sounds more like trying to create controversy and get people to listen.

Maybe he's realized that the team's only chance of winning a championship is if he puts up video game numbers every night like last season, and even then it's still a long shot. IDK, but this isn't normal Lebron for whatever reason. There's a difference between playing badly and playing like you don't give a shite.

He probably tanked because he knew they weren't going to beat the Magic anyway. And this way, if they do come back to beat the Celtics - "oh, look how great Lebron is". If they don't - "Lebron's teammates suck."

It just doesn't compute. On home court, chance to take series lead, his elbow was fine the game before, and he might as well have not even shown up. Game was close at the half, and then he basically stayed in the locker room.

If it's more important to someone to "prove a point" than to do all he can to win, I just have a real problem with that.
