yes - I know this thread is better suited for the saints board.
like the best of us, I would love to see russell succeed and win super bowls... preferably in an NFL city I actually care for
I am also happy to see Russell, Dorsey and all former LSU Tigers bank as much monies as possible... I couldn't give a flying f_ what a rookie tiger costs Bob McNair, Jerry Jones, Al Davis or Tom Bensen.
I don't believe for a second a rookie cap means my Saints ballcap will be cheaper or my 20 ounce beer at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX will cost me 10.50 instead of 11.00
I was elated when Dominick Davis was rewarded for his work ethic by the texans... saddened his NFL tenure was shortened by injury but nevertheless he banked a 5 million bonus.
I was a season ticket holder of the Houston Texans for five years until I tired of their product and the 8- to 10-hours I committed to every home game weekend.
we live in a capitalist and free market economy, and i'm all for randle, peterson, murphy and other former Tigers breaking the banks of any, and every, NFL owner willing to pay them.

This is why I prefer CFB over the NFL BTW.
But to your point. Don't get me wrong, I hope that all former Tigers do well financially, but it is a little embarrassing when LSU football starts to kinda become synonymous with "high NFL bust rate". And that won't be good for LSU football longterm if that perception starts to become mainstream.

I agree - high profile busts will not bode well for a college program.
The media, and us tiger fans, have cherry-picked a few former Tigers to prove our, or their, point.
We have gobs of former Tigers that are invaluable to their teams. Media and bloggers seemed determined to ensure the truth doesn't interfere with a good story.

No doubt. I think it really is just the JR story, even with the high expectations put on the KC crew, no one would be saying these things if it weren;t for the JR saga.
