last night's Fringe

I've become a big fan of Fringe but last night's "musical" episode was pretty bad. Even though it was just a story Walter was telling the musical moments were cringe-worthy. Anyone check it out?
On a side, next week's episode featuring Peter and Newton looks awesome.

I haven't watched it yet, but I saw the commercial for it and was wondering what the hell was going on. Guess I'll have more of an opinion after I watch it but it looked like it would be pretty bad.
I have no idea why they would do that either. I don't think the people that watch Fringe are going to be attracted by Glee type elements.

No sciency/horror/suspense type show should ever attempt a "musical episode" unless Joss Whedon is involved.

He was high, I thought it worked.
I think it was a fun episode, surely a nice break as the show is hitting a very serious stride.
1) You do realize it was a microcosm of the entire Fringe story? I'm sure there are some interesting things to be found.
2) I think the girl's ending of Peter splitting his heart is somewhat important, although I can't figure out how so.
3) Does anyone remember the Watcher's warning to Walter?

Even for a marijuana induced fantasy I just couldn't really get into it, and I generally like Fringe's more stand alone episodes. And the musical moments were a distraction and seemed way out of place.
Definitely, Walter stealing kids dreams and replacing them with nightmares was a nice allusion to the cortexaphan trials.
Possibly symbolic of Peter being split between the 2 universes when Walter stole him from the alternate universe? Or maybe having to do with Walter's Peter having died in the past and this Peter being a replacement?
I've tried to find it online but no luck. I seem to remember The Observer warning Walter of something after he saved Walter and Peter when they fell through the ice in "Peter", but I can't recall exactly what was said.

Was just reading one of the Fringe boards... whenever The Observer drove Walter and Peter home after saving them from the ice water he told Walter to keep Peter safe because Peter was "important".
I think it's gotta be either that or a conversation that we haven't seen yet.

It was like a holodeck episode on Star Trek, although I think y'all are right in that this one was full of easter eggs and fore shadowing. In addition to what y'all have already thrown out there, I wonder if it's significant that Rachel died, because at first she looked like a potential love interest for Peter while Olivia didn't but that all seems to have changed.

Didn't the observer tell Walter something when they were at his beach house? Also had something to do with a coin? I also believe Walter visted peter's grave that episode
