A scout working for Boras came by our tailgate this past weekend and has some insight on a few kids.
Eades woulda been a first rounder 10-15 had he been healthy. Another guy they represent..Jacoby Jones is a 5 tool guy who can do it all, and has major projectability.
The guy said he should end up here barring some team throwing stupid money at him.
What kinda shocked me is he told us that they encourage guys to go to college. If a team throws half a mil at you, is it worth passing up the experience you'll have in college?...now if you get 2-3 then you should go. This guy actually was the #11 pick out of high school in '88, turned it down, and three years later he was the #7 pick.
Cool guy too.

They encourage them to go to college for leverage. And they want them to sign with the best school they can as well to keep that leverage.

leverage
This. The agents tell them the whole time to go to college, that way when the first lowball offer comes in, it is rejected, and the kid feels better aboot his decision.
If the prospect is really good though, a much better offer will soon come and the agent looks like a genius.

Boras is the best in the business. People don't like him because his clinets get the most outrageous signing bonsuses from MLB teams, however if I were to looking to get an agent for my own son he would be on the top of my list. I sure as hell respect the man.
