LSU is NC Opportunity to make a statement

Having read a few articles about the LSU versus NC game, it seems clear that the NC team looks at this game as a huge game for their program to step up big time. An opportunity to make a national statement. I guarantee they have extra pep in their step in preparation for this game. Through the spring and summer they have LSU and the SEC on their mind.
I have not sensed that intensity in preparation for NC from this LSU team. NC is not looked on as a national power. If the game was against USC or Texas, imagine the extra focus and effort from the team and coaching . Well to NC, LSU is their USC/Texas. LSU needs to look at NC the same way, a statement game for the program, which it is. Which way is the program heading? It is an opportunity for these player to reestablish LSU as a national power.
To the NC players, despite the last two less that stellar years, LSU represents the best of the best. The first team with two BCS championships. The SEC. To them, during their formative years, LSU is among the elite of college football. Its like playing NC or Duke in basketball. Its a statement game.
It is also like it once was and to a degree still is when playing Notre Dame. Hopefully, unlike ND, our team will be prepared for the extra effort of teams like NC and WV to make a name for themselves against LSU. These LSU players are young and have not experienced the intensity that teams bring against an elite national power. You have to be prepared. Hopefully the coaching staff is preparing the team for the extra effort and intensity the two out of conference teams will bring to the game because of who LSU is. They cannot sleep walk into these games or they will be rudely awaken.

Seriously though, NC should think of us as an elite team, because we are.
Where I'd change what was posted, is we should not have the mentality that this is a must win game, we need to have the mentality that EVERY game is a must win.
We have a bullseye on our backs every week in conference and out, and we must prepare and play expecting that,,,,,and if we do we'll be fine!!!!

All I say is Lsu had better come to play. It could easily get embarrassed by Un. They would love to upset Lsu in the first game.

Your concern is valid and I agree. I'm not sure that the team isn't thinking about UNC though. They might be talking this game up at every practice for all we know. I think the first game of the year, national TV etc is enough to wake us up. I think we rise to the occassion, I think we're up for it.

This is hard for me to read NC= National Championship. I'm used to seeing UNC.
LSU and North Carolina played each other 6 times, 5-1 LSU series lead. I expect it to be a 6-1 series lead after the game on Sept 4th.

At one point LSU was considered the overwhelming choice as team of the decade. To not relaize LSU's status has slipped the last couple of years is to ignore reality.
I am surely not being negative. However I know LSU football has some reestablishing to do to re-attain its previous status. I am a believer that they can do just that. However, it is a mental attitude of execution and domination required.

Unfortunately, this will not be a problem for much longer.

The current preseason rating of LSU is 15.
the current preseason rating of NC is 16.
And ps: no one on the LSU staff is complacent about that game.
NOT ONE PERSON.
what you have is
NC sees this game as their moment in the sun, in the spotlight. Fine. They are playing with the big boys and they are properly excited.
