I don't know about 1958 and 26 K's, but Ron Necciai struck out 27 in 9 innings in a 1952 minor league game.

Oddly though, it was not a perfect game. He walked a guy and plunked another one. There was one groundout in the game, but in the ninth the catcher dropped the 3rd strike on a batter and did not throw to first so that Nacciai could get 4 K's in one inning.

I'm with you lsuroadie, i seem to recall laxton throwing one also.

I want to say a couple of pitchers combined to throw one a few years back as well.

Patrick Coogan pitched a complete game 1 hitter, walking none, and striking out 15, against Ole Miss in 97

Laxton struck out 15 or 16 in the 93 championship game, which at the time was a championship game record (may still be). I don't recall him throwing a no-no, however.

Three LSU pitchers have no hit games since 1965. Randy Wiles (3-0 vs. Rice) 3-3-76, Van Quigley 5-5-66 (1-0 vs. Tulane) Bobby Landry 3-14-79 (1-0 Sou. Miss.) One LSU pitcher has pitched a perfect game, Bruce Baudier 5-5-67 (2-0 vs. Alabama) per 2010 LSU Baseball Media Guide.

What the poster above says is correct.

The most shutouts in a season by an LSU pitcher is 3 by Randy Wiles in 1970, Ben McDonald in 1989 and Brian Tallet in 2000.

The most career shutouts thrown by an LSU pitcher was 7 by Randy Wiles, 1970-73.

Anybody care to guess what former pitcher holds the record for most earned runs allowed in a single game? The record number of earned runs given up in a single game by one pitcher is 11.

Spoiler alert, I'll give you hint below....

He wore #19 and his number was retired Saturday night.....

what was the story on Laxton? I remember he had the 16K, then suffered an injury? was he never the same after the injury?

i'm seeing he made it to the big leagues and pitched a few games, but didnt do very well.
