I went to a party that the catered and the crawfish were great. Someone at the party said that they use Chinese white pepper. Has anyone ever heard of this?

My husband uses regular white pepper in stuff, but I don't know what the difference is between that and Chinese White Pepper.
If you're looking for the Chinese stuff, the best Oriental grocery in Baton Rouge is Vinh Phat on Florida (might be the only one!).

Dorothy-you aren't in Kansas anymore.
Vinh Phat is a great place. I know the owners. However, there are scores of places to buy asian products. There is even one on Lee at Highland. Smaller, but they probably have this product.

What's funny is that I pass this place all the time and never really notice it. I know where it is, but I never think about it when I need supplies. I guess because my dad always went to Vinh Phat (he was Indonesian), so that's where I go.
I will make a note to try it soon. Any others you can think of?

There is Le's, Saigon Seafood (both up around Sherwood, and probably a few hole in the wall palces. The place on Lee is run by a Korean.

You sure it wasn't Chinese Red Pepper?
