In the middle of Domination on Favela last night and the PS3 decided to give up the ghost.

I'm pretty sure its out of warrenty so I have to figure out how to get it repaired.

Anyone know how to get my MW2 disc out of this thing?

I'll youtube when I get home.

I know it comes due to overheating, which I am really surprised it would in this instance. I had only been playing 15-20 minutes.

I'm hoping it will work when I get home tonight but I;m trying to do my research in case I need to send it off for repair.

Now I'm glad the PS3 map pack doesnt drop for another month.

I got the disc out, but still have YLOD. I've found a few different places that repair them on Ebay with Good feedback on them. $50 for repair.

I'd be willing to bet there's 100 more threads about RROD and 'haloing disks' than any problem PS3 would have....

<<<<This guy. Cost me about 150 or so total. Entire process from when I called until I got the new one in took a total of 9 days, including weekends. I was pretty impressed. I always thought it took weeks. Just call them. They're really helpful.

Mine is well out of warrenty so I'm trying one of the repair places to fix it. Total cost is about $75 after shipping it to them. We will see how it goes.

I got a call last night from the shop repairing my PS3. The guy said he had it fixed and had tested it leaving it running for the past day or so with no issues. He did ask me how much my fans typically ran. Ever since new, my fans have ran fairly loud, or at least louder than my friends PS3 so I told him to me that was normal. He said that the PS3 typically has 3 fan setting, mine usually runs on #2, he said it seemed to be skipping 1 entirely and his guess was the temp calibration from Sony was off. Not a big deal, if anything it should run cooler with the fans on.

Anyway, props to Kentucky Electronics for communication. Alott of places would have just shipped it back without a word.

I shoud have it back either end of the week or Monday so I'll have a full review then.
