For the first time in team history, Michigan will host a night football game at Michigan Stadium when it welcomes rival Notre Dame on Sept. 10, 2011

It's hard for LSU fans to grasp that much of the college football world prefers day games. If not for TV, you would not see many night games.

I would not want to be there for a night game in Meechigan in November.

I was living in Michigan in the early 70s. The sports writers up there were very negative towards southern football, particularly directed numerous barbs at the SEC.

Among the many gems I read (paraphrased):

"You'll never see night games in the Big 10 - only lower tier schools play night games."

"You'll never see Big 10 teams playing in lesser bowls like the Sugar or Orange."

etc, etc

In Tiger Stadium, NO. Must be a night game. Unless it's like some really shitty team then I don't really care too much, especially if there's some other big match up that I wanna watch at night, but any SEC game in TS gotta be at night.

I wonder what those same folks say now? Amazing what getting your arse handed to you by Appalachian State and Ohio State does to your ego.

It is pretty surprising that Michigan has never had a night game. It will be fun to watch. I wonder if the fans will like it better.

The tv networks often beg to differ.

You wouldn't have to be.

As of now, Big Televen rules prohibit teams from playing night games after October 31st. That is why the PSU-anOSU game wasn't a night game this past season.

Yep.

Sucks. Especially when you are a team that has such a supposed "advantage" with a night game atmosphere.
