Says he's skating on thin ice. Is there anyone that would disagree that he's probably one of the worst coaches on the team?

I looked up his coaching resume on LSUsports.net.

Coaching Experience
1989-90 Cincinnati (assistant offensive line)
1991-96 Wilmington (offensive coordinator)
1997 Ohio State (graduate assistant – offense)
1998-2000 Arkansas State (offensive line)
2001-06 Bowling Green (offensive line, 2001-02; offensive coordinator/offensive line, 2003-05; assistant head coach/offensive coordinator, 2006)
2007 LSU (offensive line)

It just doesn't look all that impressive. Can someone elaborate on why we've hired this guy and given him raises?

Just read his bio on lsusports.net, it says he is "one of the best line coaches in college". That's why we hired him. But seriously he had more experience than blake miller at the time and todd spencer is an option guy. Stud had experience coaching a spread offense n zone blocking that miles n searles couldn't agree on.

You're saying we couldn't find anyone better? I'm not disagreeing with you. I just find it hard to believe that we only had 3 options to choose from.

And didn't he get a raise around the middle of this year? Wasn't it right after a particularly awful offensive line performance? I don't really remember when they announced that he was getting a raise; but I do remember thinking to myself "what the frick..."

When do you think o-line became a problem? We had 1,000 yard rushers in 2007 and 2008.

Losing Herm and Helms was significant. So, Stud may be obese and might not be the premier o-line coach in America but our interior line is weak. And our QB's the past 2 years have been young and inexperienced. It's always easy to have a knee-jerk reaction and say it's the coaches fault. I think it's more of a personnel issue at this point and that goes back to Miles and recruiting and attrition.

Not to be critical, but he needs to push away from the table long enough to work with his linemen.

Seriously, the line play is most critical and anyone with a small knowledge can attest to. Les may have to step in if he wants to negate any criticism of his OL coach. It should be top priority.

We have 4 star offensive line recruits all over the place. No reason they should be anywhere near as bad as they were last year. The run blocking in particular was pathetic the past few years IMO. Ciron Black was better as a Soph then a Senior IMO.

Our offense has become progressively worse every year since Stud has been here. . .even with Helms, Big Herm, and Black.

Our rushing rank since Stud and Crow got here:

2007- 11th
2008- 43rd
2009- 90th

I agree that the o line play must improve, and that we have had trouble with the running game being consistant, but when they put 8 in the box most of the time to stuff the run, because they know you have a couple of young and inexperienced QB's even the best o lines will struggle! Just how it is!!!!!

I wouldn't throw Stud completely under the bus just yet. Now if it is obvious that JJ is mature and confident next year and we still struggle,,,,,then bring out the firing squad!!!!

I know what you are saying, but I don't think that was Don, it was probably his son Scott.

Did you notice the spelling error?

I know, grammar police. I am going to hell.

I'm ready to throw Coach Stud under the bus.

Last year's line performance is the worst I've ever seen in an LSU uniform. EVER. And I've been watching for the last 40 years.

DL's were in our backfield on pass plays in literally one second. Don't believe me? Go back and look at the tape. It's as though having no one there, at times, would have generated the same result. If you can't slow someone for even a second with pass blocking... either the game is too much for you... or your coach needs to go. One or the other.

There is no excuse for the shameful play of the offensive line in 2009. None.

I get that we lost good players from the interior the previous years, but their replacements are LSU Tigers, not Division 1-AA cannon fodder. We should be doing MUCH better than this.
